Spidertron Enhancements


Some simple features to make your life easier whilst using a spidertron: - Enter a vehicle without leaving your spidertron - Quickly toggle between engineer and spidertron - Use spidertron remote pathfinder to navigate around lakes - Automatically sort spidertron inventories - Pipette remotes from inventory by hovering over spidertrons - Directly open the inventory of a vehicle that you are currently driving

Suggestions: Animation for when the Spiderton enters a Vehicle or train.
That being the Spidertron perched ontop of it, with its legs retracted/shrunk as far as they will go and the feet lining upto the edges of the vehicle.

Animation for the switching between the Engineer the the Spidertron could be like an overlay ontop of your armour. With the Spidertrons legs wrapped around the Engineers chest "pretending" to be a Backpack. =P

lol sidenote, could also do a puff of smoke or somthing to cover-up transitions without animations. =D

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Adding the spidertron onto the vehicle/player graphics would be quite a task, both graphically and in the programming of it, because there’s no way to change an entity’s graphics on the fly like that, they would have to be swapped out for a different prototype.

The smoke added in 1.2 was just a very simple change to tell the game to play the ‘build entity’ smoke when the spidertron appears. I’d like to add a lot more poof smoke into all the transitions, but that will be a bit more complicated.

Well, I made a start in 1.2.2 which I just released. Enable the experimental setting in mod settings to have a look. In the next update, I'll do:
- Smoke transitions
- Sound transitions
- Fix the problem where it lags behind whilst the vehicle is moving fast
- I'll be able to rotate the head along with the vehicle in 1.1.7 (it requires this upcoming feature: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=93947)
