OreCompress and PlateCompress are now merged into one. With it came a significant code rewrite which greatly simplified the process of adding new ores; generalizing the mod behavior. If you want to change mod settings, please do it before starting the game. I did test changing the settings of existing game and it worked as far as i could tell.

This mod lets you compress and decompress ores and plates. 20 items into 1 dense cube of resource. You need an assembler to compress and decompress. Some of them can be smelted or used as fuel. Most numbers in this mod are configurable.
Cheaty? Maybe a little in the sense that to transport ores around your base you need 20 times less robots. But it comes at a cost of more logistics complexion. By default the process of smelting with compressed recipes is lossy, but slightly faster. You will also get more fuel energy out of a single piece of coal. But use of this mod may increase your game performance in megabase scale.
There is also a guide/support thread for adding compression to other mods. The mod comes with functions that other mods can access:

Also if you want to be able to compress nearly all items in the game, check out Deadlock's Stacking Beltboxes and loaders. I made an override mod which lets you stack the compressed items to same levels this mod does, or change the number to what you want:
