Adds a game map and searchlights which sweep for foes at great range, alerting you while directing adjacent turrets to snipe spotted foes. Designed to dovetail with the early-mid game, searchlights provide: - Circuit network interfaces for search & detection I/O - Incentive to automate lamp & combinator production in the early game - New tactics to assault biter bases without leap-frogging turrets!

Nope

Searchlight provides a straightforward searchlight building that projects a light onto enemy units, and does little else when enemies are not present.

Searchlight Assault has its own building art & audio effects made from scratch, and additional features that allow your own turrets to focus fire onto an enemy unit spotted by the searchlight, including range-boosting behavior to allow your friendly turrets to shoot foes from very far away.
Searchlight Assault also has circuit network conditions allowing you to "sweep" the light around even when foes aren't present with your own combinator-controlled patterns, and outputs the location of spotted enemies onto the circuit network.

Yes Searchlight Assault works with flamethrowers, provided the enemy is in the arc of the flamethrower's range. At least, it does for the base game's flamethrowers, other mods may vary.

Would honestly like to see a setting that makes the searchlights from this mod not sweep and just focus on enemies in it's range. Like the more straightforward mod. There is no middleground for "Hey I want to detect biters and have it on the circuit networks" and "I don't want a sweeping searchlight". If you're mod filled that niche, the original searchlights mod would be obsolete.

I like the feature idea, but I don't want to steal someone else's niche.. Maybe after my next big update I'll think about implementing that, if no one minds

It's not his niche at all, his mod doesn't have circuit network support. It's a middleground that no one has filled. I do get what you're saying though, that'd essentially make your mod a "better" version of his directly.
If you do end up doing it, I'd appreciate it alot. Good luck with the next big update! :)

i mean the other searchlights mod hasn't had support for what? 3 years? plus there's been several thosuand nuclear train mods at this point i doubt it's an issue
