Today's patch has a note that seems relevant to your mod:

"Adjusted space platform drag to be based on weight rather than width."

I don't know enough about how drag is calculated, but does it seem like they implemented something like your mod officially?

I'd love to know how they compare.

Basically I built ships with this mod active, how will they fare when I will continue playing the save but then on 2.1 using the new vanilla system instead of this mod.

I’ve marked this mod as deprecated since it was a ‘simplest possible’ conversion to a weight-only formula. Wube’s formula is more finely tuned for gameplay.
