What does this do ?
It adds music made for Virentis !
What if i don't have Virentis ?
Then it adds in on Nauvis !
That's it ?
No, it also adds a setting to mute itself and instead play some Gleba tracks on the planet Virentis.
It can also be used like a music album for my other mod : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/PI-house-made-music; if both are active then the other mod add the music from this one as instrument for the programmable speakers too and starting setting to disable individual song.
List of songs :
1) Virentis-1 ( variable track with 2 versions)
Inspired by a music from the TV show hells kitchen i was given as reference for the desired mood for the album, in particular the drums, to set the tempo, and the tonalities. With a more musical version and a version with more sound effect and distortion to make it sound a little like a pressure cooker to stay in the theme.
2) Wriggler's Garden
Inspired by the song English Country Garden by the Darkness, heavily re-imagined, for that feeling of way ticket to hell and back , a bit of relentless energy, like a train going a little too fast on a bumpy road, but still in the right direction, and the bowed instrument for a feeling of "embrace the wild planet". The rapid clics in drums are meant to evoke the wrigglers tentacles slapping on some metal machineries.
3) Bazaar Accord
Inspired by the (spice) traders from Virentis, with middle eastern influences and hand drums to evoke the life on the planet and bit of crispation and adventure with the biters. Sounds a bit like a sound from my other mod DUST following encouragment from SoulCrysis , except it's not techno at all, only meant give a desert feeling to match the planet scarce trees.
4) Pentapod Hunt
Quite different from the others, this one is inspired by the movies avatar, as if there was a ritual hunt for the pentapod eggs, it sound tribal hopefully, as if it was a tradition in Virentis, and a ceremony for the hunt. With a gentle release at the end.
5) Vibrations
This one is a somewhat accoustic cover of a slowed down techno track, trying to give the feel of a "gentle big agricultural machine", large and slow, a little rusty and shaky guided by strings and cables, eventually getting the work done. The vibrations are also those from the stompers shaking the ground when that happens :)
6) Wilderness
This one is a rock cover of the same slowed down techno track, this time inspired by the OST from the movie "the Sinners" and that ghoul in the TV show fallout, it's the track to let loose and be wild, in the wild, that's also in the title, or after a day of suffering at the plantation.
7) Moment of Change
This is also quite a different track than the others, in the same rock tonalities with a bit more tension and anxiety, and a feel for a quest, when you notice the atmosphere changes, something isn't quite right and you're about to embark in inquiry that dragged on to fix it.
8) Low Hanging Fruit
Inspired by the OST from the Sinners, this one is for when radars reveal a nice patch of trees, or an unexpected goodies just right away, it says "enjoy", good news :)
9) Suspens
A calm one, maybe a bit lonely in the album, still in the rock influences, with country or blues harmonicas and hand drums, with a vaporous, hangover morning feeling and a bit of an unsettling stereo, as if you don't know where the next problem will manifest, but there sure will be one. Just not yet.
10) By the River
This one has a quicker tempo than previous , it is inspired by music from pirates movies, like pirate of the caribeans, but happening in the desert, that scene with the boat on the sand, because i felt a bit of the same epicness when playing Virentis and seeing the fishing docks and planned pirate ships.
11) Harvesting
Inspired by the mood of the ambient of the game Song of Syx by Jasinka : https://www.youtube.com/@Jasinka , especially for the nyckelharpa, with electronic/mechanic drums to add the machine-atmosphere from factorio.
12) Flat Bread Battalion
One that has touches of a battle anthem and desperation, or inevitability, with a hopeful melody overimposed to motivate the troops in the desolate landscape. For when you realize you need to expand again for more tacos. Has inspiration from the music of the movie Predator Badland
13) Worrysome Weather
The first song of the "part 2 about the updates with fishing docks , and maybe pirate ships ? Inspired by the music from the TV show "night manager" , it is a return to the influences from the 3)rd song bazaar acccord but with more guitar and violins, it also borrow from the tension in the 4) song. A bit like the anxious preparation of a long expedition.
14) Virentis Violins Vortices
This one is the actual expedition mentionned in previous song, embarking in an adventurous journey, you are the wannabe pirate on Virentis on a troublesome path to harvesting fruits for trade, if it was not the song 14 it would be the song 1.
15) Taming Tempests
Using a hurdy gurdy as suggested by SoulCrysis, this one is for a maritime feel too, when the sea are high and navigation require skills, you need to use to fishing docks https://mods.factorio.com/mod/fishing-dock for better immersion.
16) Keep Going
This one is progressively more intense, to try and lift the mood to confidence in a gentle curve, with a driving bass and mischievous violins, it is meant as the engineer surfing over the problems.
17) Back to safe harbour
Inspired by traditionnal celtic music from the french britanny region, it is a pirate song with bagpipes and battle drums ! goes with : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/pirate-fleet,
18) Pirate Party
The one song with vocals ! About pirates having a party and celebrating, i think they want you to join something about a kraken.
Feedback and suggestions :
Feel free to use the discussion page for this :)
I hope you liked the journey, if not sorry for the noise, you can use the setting to use Gleba's music instead :)
