What does this do ?
Alone, nothing ! This is like a music album, but you need the music player first : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/PI-house-made-music
Then it adds the music as game music and / or as instrument for the speakers !
Why ?
This way you can select your favourite "album" for each game, and when i publish a new song or a new album or try to make the music player better, you don't have to redownload everything.
No why this album ?
You should download it beause it's the best ( of the published so far hahaha ) ! it's the one that is made to be listened to for prolongued periods of time, not distracting just energetic and uplifting, for me, maybe for you to ?

1-Research ( 5 min 36 sec) [Solar-System-Edge]
Genre : Progressive Minimal
Inspiration : Factorio OST vibes and the FFF music early reveal for the Space Age extension (with kicks)
Comment : Made entirely in FL studio over a month or so, by adding sequences or changing them a bit every day to learn how to use it and with the aim of making a song that is not boring to listen to, but not distracting either that would play nicely as game soundtrack for Factorio thinking about something my friends could agree upon and i could listen to while trying to sleep in the train IRL. Then attempted to make that long 13:48 min song that was in the early version in the current shorter one. ( there may still work to do on it though, maybe i just need to chill, i'm still "researching" on this one) -
2-Inquiry ( 3 min : 46 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Progressive Minimal
Inspiration : Fantasia-Sorcerer apprentice , Factorio OST vibes, .
Comment : Made in FL studio, attempt at not making a "fun" or "happy" song, it was difficult. Attempt at using a slow synth to give a dreamy feel, and another fast one to mimick the relentless march of the cleaning broomstick as it stuck in memory reminding me of how messy and out-of-control can uncontrolled automation feel. ( probably not definitive version ) -
3-Following ( 5 min : 25 sec ) [Aquilo]
Genre : Progressive House/Melodic techno, Eurodance
Inspiration : "XX min Around the world" mixes from youtube Alexe LAN-K music, SAVAGE-44 - Rock da house , Miss Monique mixes
Comment : Song in 2 parts, a pathway, and then arrival at the night-club, written in F# phrygian, with an attempt at making the plucked synth sound like oriental deep house, for a soft and fast song early on, and the later part alternance of more punchy and more dreamy part to match what i think can fit the factorio mood or be played in repeat. Made in FL studio following tutorials on automation clip, then give those loops to various AI without prompt, to see how they would understand the sequences, keeping my favourites, and stitching them with the original loops and some finishing touches to make a full song. The ending is boring but if i try to think of something the song would be too long like 1-Research so for now it's like that because i really want to listen to it in the game but they will be reworked at some point i suppose. -
4-Taming-bugs ( 5 min : 40 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental Progressive House/Melodic techno, chill , ambient
Inspiration : artist named "DANGER" which i liked from when i was a kid, listening to 11h30 or 14h54 up to Furi soundtrack more recently (famously?).
Comment : This is a wannabe relaxing song, with some passages of soft uplifting/power techno, similar to previous song, but slower and with more intricacies in the structure. There's this guy i call friend when we are not arguing, and that time he said he liked the sound of the "humming bass" at 12sec in the intro of the song "Bug-Rage-Night". So i attempted to make a whole song around it, using the synth "Serum", to try different loops with kicks , clicks ,claps and pads , and gave to various AIs with various prompt to see what they would do. Then stitch my favourites pieces with the originals and added some glitchy parts, thinking about the awkwardness of human relation, and how there's ups and down, and things are not linear. I thought it would make a good music for "main track" as there are some more quiet part, more like "building-game"/"brain-time" when the bugs are tamed or at the beginning of the game. And some more dynamic techno for combat, or epic time to match the feel when the thing is working. Hopefully you like it too ! -
5-Plucked-Overdrive ( 6 min : 27 sec ) [Fulgora]
Genre : Experimental/Electro
Inspiration : Praise Cats feat. Andrea Love - Shined On Me , Kalinka, electro-overdrived plucks.
Comment : This is an energetic song ! The same melody repeats over time, faster and faster at first, and then with an instrument i tried evocating of an overdrive. The rhythm of the melody is inspired by a happy love song "Shined On Me", but i tried to use different scales of notes to make it good for deep thinking and a little down-to-earth,when things need to be done manually, but the head is thinking to something else, less intense in the notes used than a love song, only the rythm and the instrument are supposed to be energetic. This was made by repeatedly giving a minute of song i wrote to various AIs telling them as prompt "faster and faster" without any other indication, then using parts of the hours generated to reconstruct a song with my favourite instruments, and finishing touches like reworking some drops. This is part of an experiment to see how it feels in game as a medley of 2 songs and how to "build on a motive" (without it sounding repetitive in a boring way). Maybe it could be made into 2 songs that would have some breathing time in them but it somewhat felt wrong to do 2 songs with the same melody. It's not like the OST which does "build on a motive" in a way i need to study more. The outro had to be distorted after playing so relentlessly the instrument for the whole song, hopefully making it sound like a progression toward "more and more" or "heavier and heavier". Like a factory in the game, where the more mechanical/organised part follows the organic spagetthi that goes in every direction with some mistakes still allowed at first. -
6-Resilience ( 6 min : 30 sec ) [Gleba]
Genre : Experimental/Electro
Inspiration : I tried to avoid taking inspiration on other songs for this one
Comment : This is a motivationnal song whose structure is a progression like the life of some persons, very early the alarm prevent the warmth to spread further, interrupting the pluck, but some heavy bass and kicks comes out to liberate it so they can celebrate again later, they tasted it and won't forget. But they all are a bit tired, so they don't dance, they nod the head smiling, occasionnaly taping with the foot, they still have a little surprise or two just in case it's needed to kick away some alarm again but otherwise, they spread the warmth till the end. And wonder if they done it well. You'd be absolutly wrong if you do not hear exactly what i described in the song because that's exactly what i put into it using FL studio, some AIs and finishing up the song in audacity. I hope this gives you motivation to persevere when it's not easy hoping it will not be necessary. -
7-Lostitude ( 4 min : 05 sec ) [Shattered-Planet]=>[Nauvis]
Genre : Experimental/Techno
Inspiration : Song from my chilhoods 1990-2005, Miss Monique mixes, factorio OST
Comment : This a song for thinking while observing. I followed tutorials to learn how to make the riser white noise and eletro/house crash combo that i really like in Miss Monique mixes , the learning is still (slowly) ongoing ! I added lots of it there, maybe a bit too much of if you just listen to it, but it is meant to take deep breath /big inspiration of air, or something. Ideally you would not do repetitive task, but monitor the factory in map view, or follow a train and look at somewhere else everytime the music changes, more of a passive song to relax, and rejoice when you are sure everything is in check and you are leaving the lostitude. That's when you can't even talk with latitude and longitude because you're just too far away, like crashed on another planet level of far away. I wrote a part of the song, and gave it to AIs but it seemed difficult for them to understand it and the distribution of outputs was unusual, the variation in the output were unusually large, i had things from very different genre almost like random AND many output were almost identical. I picked a selection where the kicks are the less present to try and emulate the factorio OST, also picking those that had similar sounding instruments and made it into this song. I hope you get a good familiar feelings when hearing it and do not feel lost too in the song, just in your thoughts :) -
8-Lone ( 3 min : 59 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental/Techno
Inspiration : the noise it makes when sweeping the floor with a broom, previous song with plucks, Stromae's sad/deep song that were played in club for people to party , Miss Monique dj sets
Comment : This is a melancholic and energetic song. I read somewhere that Factorio was not about party, but i it think was wrong, because life is a party, and so is Factorio, maybe some people think all party are fun and happy, but no, many people go "partying" when they are sad, or try to connect with a crowd because they feel lonely. I don't know if that help but that made me think that the engineer must feel very lonely after crashing on Nauvis. I can't imagine engineer was alone in the ship, so part of the song is about the sadness of being alone, other part show determination to find and rescue other crew members or escape the planet and meet civilization again. The saddest part were made mostly in FL studio to gives the AI the melody, tempo and the sound of the different instruments for some audio continuation (transitions & drop with "dark synthwaves" as prompt ), made into a song with structure & polished with audacity. I hope it's not making you sad, it's supposed to do the opposite ! -
9-Offset ( 4 min : 05 sec ) [Gleba]
Genre : Experimental/Techno
Inspiration : Not quite sure where i heard something like that for the trumpet, but i was guided by memories, and the sound for bass and kicks are inspired by Miss Monique dj sets
Comment : This a song with a seemingly relax start followed with tension, anxiety and release of violent emotion, that could still fit as a "main track" regarding the others. Was working on a loop with the "trumpet" and the pluck for sometime trying to make something calmer and practicing with notes of different lengh on FL studio, but it didn't work and i put it aside like so many other loops. One day i was quite pissed at things and realized this particular one had quite some similarities with previous song, so i worked on it again, to have a more energetic/ angry development too by changing some things in the loop and giving it to AIs again. When working on a potential structure i noticed that duplicating some part and playing them with a slight offset in tiime would increase the tension a lot, bashed my head a bit with it untill i got something that i like as a song, with energy to carry for tasks like making a factory. I think it can also work if you are getting increasingly pissed off by biters and you decide to go on rampage like a revenge or solve deadlocked trains with rocket launcher, that kind of things. Please enjoy within the limit permitted by the game :) -
10-Maybe Not ( 5 min : 58 sec ) [Shattered-Planet]=>[Nauvis]
Genre : Experimental
Inspiration : The feeling you get when you haven't travelled for ages and you receive an extra-ordinary invitation for something like a factorio LAN party, but you are not sure you can go there because of passport and shit so you decide to try your luck anyway.
Comment : To me this song evoke "great things" by their magnitude, but you are not so sure it's all good, there's a catch and some uncertainty , a looming threat. I found not all emotions translate well into songs or into songs that i could see fit for Factorio, but here i was happy with the result of just playing pushing buttons on FL studio. I though to associate it to Vulcanus with the infinite ressources and vast land you don't need to defend, apart from the terrible worms. This is 50/50 music composed in FL studio and AI continuation, it was pretty quick to make the AI catch onto something i liked i think because the structure of what is perceived by human and the machine is the same simple melody, or maybe because of the strong emotion i felt when making the song, and still when hearing it, this is my most personnal one i think, and i hope you like it too ! -
11-Hidden Hope ( 6 min : 27 sec ) [Fulgora]
Genre : Experimental/Techno
Inspiration : The planet Fulgora, its soundtrack, the movie blade runner 2049 , miss Monique mixes
Comment : This song i found in the end moderatly but quite consistently energetic. It started with the heavy atmosphere that i imagine filled with dusty cloud in Fulgora like the orange place at the end of the movie blade runner, but you can't listen to that for the same amount of time i play the factorio game without depressing, you can hear one of the synth a little sad already, as if the world was in ruins and its wondering where's the joy and the hope here. But then there's this happy tududu tududu tut which to me is the sound of the smile one can have when moving hands alongside the music like a chef and the machine would follow. You can even hear some of them attempting to follow in duo. To restaure the planet and repair the mistakes of the past, hope is for the future, and it's hidden because you are more focused on making it happen than celebrating for now. This factory is a mess and it needs fixing but eventually it will be time for space ! -
12-Fulgoran's Exile ( 4 min : 05 sec ) [Fulgora]
Genre : Experimental/Trance
Inspiration : The planet Fulgora, its soundtrack, the story of superman and other people who have to leave their place for unfortunate reasons.
Comment : This is a calm and cozy song despite the vibration of the planet crumbling that can be felt at the beginning. I imagine the Fulgorans leaving their planet for a better one trying to rejoice for the future, which is teinted with a bit of melancholia as their hopeful future is in their mind the hope of finding at least as good as they had in the past, on Fulgora, before it was deserted. You can hear some bits of their spaceship being assembled at the beginning of the sound and some pods flying around and the departure "celebration" but not everyone onboard is happy some are anxious too, the music shoud help appeasing everyone. -
13-Final Destination ( 3 min : 14 sec ) [Shattered-Planet]
Genre : Experimental/ Big-Room-Electro/Hardstyle
Inspiration : Epic clash, fighthing game ala mortal kombat , hollywood sci fi movies sound FX.
Comment : This is a brutal song, very energetic, fit for battle or spoiler alerts cruising in dangerous space where it feels like an epic clash of one's stubborness to go further and all the things the game throws at you that need to be destroyed by your spaceship. You can almost hear the "finish it" yelled at you about that adversity. You can also use that song to clean the spider webs or dust in your place if you crank the volume high due to the repetitive nature of the beat and its intensity. Prolonged listening causes every problems to sound like it could be solved with violence, and although this works well in the game with asteroids or biters, it is still recommended to use with caution, and be aware that it usually result in a worsening. The final destination is the last one, which is not always the one we planned for, the anger arising from the discrepancy is also present in the song no ? As if you still had something to say but you couldn't and now it's over and it's too late. -
14-Worms-Hunt ( 8 min : 02 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental/Progressive Electro
Inspiration : Vulcanus, the demolisher, new age pagan music , chaos, hollywood sci fi movies, daft punk robot rock, long road trip as a kid when your parent listen to classical music in the car.
Comment : This an original song in 3 parts, with increasing energy. You can hear the flame of vulcanus at first, the low pitch groar of the worms, that alerts who could be mining in Vulcanus, and the machinery getting reading in a bit of a confusion while not everyone is convinced of the necessity to attempt such risky plan. But when everything is set up , the hunt can begin, well at least the waiting part, the ambush, it feels a bit surreal, everyone is there ready with gears, and the tension is rising, until the worms actually show up, and the battle begins and it's time to unleash all that was prepared. This structure can also work for figuring out a plan, preparing it, seeing it unfold. Which can be a factory it doesn't have to be fighting worms, it has to end epicly though. I tried to use the classical instrument to voice the melancholia of the worms which i tried to make sound as lonely for it can also apply to the engineer landing in Vulcanus but with a bit of hope always after it. Hopefully that gets thru :) -
15-Awaken ( 3 min : 41 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental/Progressive House, Deep Techno.
Inspiration : Vulcanus, the lava flowing, the worms, the party scene in the cave in matrix for its rocky surrounding. "Respawning".
Comment : This an energetic song with 2 long riser 2 big drops and some play with offset/layered melody. If a demolisher was dreaming and it was awaken by some vibration coming from your naive enthusiam and factory sprawl, it would sound like this. With a first skirmish where you just throw everything you have at it, with your heart going crazy and you were hopeful at first, but no, you died exhausted. But that doesn't stop you, because you get respawned ! you can hear a little rewind hum riser, and then it's time to try again, with even less time to fool around, you can hear it sound like no joke right ? -
16-Melantalgia ( 4 min : 44 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Progressive House / Melodic techno
Inspiration : Miss Monique mix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXQcEIM4su0&t=3917s Crawlix Mirage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWvMw9JPO60 "Shona" Jake Chudnow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBAIyY9y3HM
Comment: This is a song that i found giving feeling of "wholesome" but with melancholia. There something in those songs that i really really like, and find addictive, but addiction is not good, i think the song i made adds a touch of sadness compared to the inspiration songs that i found much more positive. I think it match the desolate landscape of Vulcanus and the temptation to find futile the establishment of something. instead of believing in your dreams. But it's not crushing despair. Just slightly regreting things aren't better. Which is a corrosive feeling, like the acide on Vulcanus, because it make one feel like it's enough to regret instead of taking action to change that state of mind. Which you should do. But those songs they kinda catch you and your mind, beware you still got a factory to build ! You're only passing by Vulcanus ! -
17-House-Patrol ( 4 min : 37 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental Progressive House / Melodic techno
Inspiration : trying to understand the magic in the music that i like !
Comment: This is a repetitive and energetic song, the mood i think could be described as a little depressing or related to anxiety, but it's also sounding literally like relieving that pressure. It is a slightly edited AI loop, extended with AI and re-arranged manually. I was searching for something that fit my mood and that could help for "deep-thinking", so i could spend time working on the arrangement and relieve the pressure when listening :) Sometimes it clicks, generating dozens of 1 min loops with various prompt, one suddenly feels different, i'm not sure why but i just go for it and tried to make it a little story that can be listened to in repeat mode. Maybe you can hear it's a stoner song due to the practice while listening to AI generated songs, as i'm also practicing when i play factorio, it is part of my integral experience of the game to watch my screen for minutes whithout realizing my mind got abstracted away thinking about all the possibilities. I don't know what make a song hypnotizing for me and how it feel for other people but i wanted to share, there is this saying in french "rester scotché" that would describe the action of staying immobile due to duct-tape if taken literally, but really it's used to talk about that abstraction, where it feels the mind goes into another dimension for time flow. May it help you for concentration. -
18-Warming-Up ( 4 min : 44 sec ) [Aquilo]
Genre : Experimental Progressive House / Melodic techno
Inspiration : MiMo Radio ! ( and previous song )
Comment: This is an energetic song in different parts with increasing intensity and warmth, you start walking on the ice, and probe if it's strong enough, then you go in and start skating, i mean building, and hopefully at the end it sound like someone's pushing the machine to the max after it's warmed up, you know for Aquilo, FUUUUUSIIIOOOONNNN. And then you even hear the stuff that are being powered ! Then as always, some little room for improvement in the machine, which i tried to make sound as the bridge in the song, and the machine goes back on again , stronger than ever !! It was made similarly to previous song, with lots of AI continuation of pieces and manual arrangement into a song of my favourite pieces. Some part are using several time the same sample, stem separated to keep only either the bass or the drums, or the "other part" that is not the vocal nor the other 2 in the 4 track stem separator AI i'm using. And then those parts are played with a little offset to alter a little the melody, or with some filters to act as echo, or background noise. -
19-C'est du pipeau ( 7 min : 09 sec ) [Aquilo]
Genre : Experimental soft techno
Inspiration : The sound of the handpan instrument, what people say on TV when they try to sound tough.
Comment: This is not really a quiet song, but it's not energetic either, you can just listen to it, that would make up for my lack of proper vocabulary. It started with the sound of a handpan, which i found as a VST plugin instrument for free, and was willing to add it in the game as a mod, but it turned out difficult to properly sample it and i spent time making melodies instead, and it reminded me of the sound of the literal cow bell. It's probably more often used in much slower song but 115 BPM is already much slower than what i started with. I imagined a whole heard of cows, rythmically doing their thing. It needed something more at this point, and it was only natural to think of a shepard, or a cowboy, who needed a voice. So again very naturally i thought of adding a trumpet as it would be a good voice for someone who leads troop that spew bullshit like a herd of cows. Hence the title "c'est du pipeau" is a french saying that would translate literally as "this is a flute/whistle" but meaning "this is bullshit". It was the first time i tried to use AI mastering, i gave some online websites the song when it was "finished" and got several "remastered" version from which i picked one from bandlab with the preset "tape", and then merged my song played at 33% volume and the new song at 66% or so with ratio changing at certain parts that needed more "warmth". May you have a smile picturing a bunch of frozen cows on Aquilo :) -
20-Re-Awaken ( 3 min : 27 sec ) [Vulcanus]
Genre : Experimental/Progressive House, Deep Techno.
Inspiration : The previous "Awaken".
Comment: This is an energetic, almost brutal song in some part alternating with grainy noisy riser that make me think of sandwave or the body of a giant worm snaking smoothly on the floor. It was made using AI continuation, with the same pieces as from the song "Awaken" and at around the same time then stiched to have similar structure as previous song. The idea is very similar, the demolisher are the main inspiration, i hope the riser gives a sense of grandeur or majestic announcing the upcoming battle for the drop that are faster, or that danger is never far away, those time where you don't expand, you're reminded this isn't a peaceful planet. I wanted to make it a single track that would have 2 versions the game could choose from, but instead it's 2 songs that have similar parts. -
21-Harmonique-Recovery ( 5 min : 50 sec ) [Aquilo]
Genre : Experimental Melodic Techno
Inspiration : Miss Monique , Aquilo 9
Comment: This is hopefully an uplifting and emotionnal song, it was inspired by the first few notes of Aquilo 9, i really really got inspired by it, several songs and remix, but this particular one is a song is dedicated to my favourite DJ miss Monique, for whom i have great admiration i think i said it already , but that's a strong feeling and it drives me to make music. Trying to make some music takes quite some times when i can't listen to (other) music which i used to do much more, so i have to split my time between listening to "bad" AI music to find the "best" for remixes and sampling and "good" music for inspiration and because that's part of my life and i couldn't live without it. This song was made with AIs , from a loop in FL studio and continuation. It took "forever" to have the instrument the way i like the simple melody i wrote, and select the sequences to put in a song. The story of the song is that when the engineer's ship is lost, at the beginning of the game, and you land in Nauvis, you're not beeing forgotten, and where you come from, they send rescue. Now it's under the form of a super-human, a robotic machine, that look like dream an sound like dream too, at least for me in the clip if you can see thru the low quality, ( the sound is compressed too :'( ).

22-Impervious-Marching-Bot-Rally ( 3 min : 41 sec ) [Aquilo]
Genre : Experimental Melodic Techno
Inspiration : MiMo Radio, previous song also from memories Rohff La grande Classe, Achozen Deuces
Comment: This is an " energetic, spacious and cinematic" song, from what the AI says, but it was made without any. I tried to give them a loop for continuation and that's what they said but i wasn't satisfied with the differents outputs and they got the actual bpm wrong by 50% so i did it all myself :) There was this noise around my place, construction work, lawnmower, washing machine , partying neigbour, others that were arguing, the noise of the fan due to heatwave, i needed something i could listen to that would not make my ears focus onto something potentially covered by the other sound. It's made using a single main instrument that has a wide range of frequencies and some LFO's to make the dotted bass and the "atmospheric sweep" more interesting, similar to some movies scene, where the aim is to overwhelm the sense, maybe , not like a typical music from the same genre as the main instrument is related. Added a high pitched repetive loop tchitchiTCHItchitchi.... to make sure to cover those wavelengh too, to make the sound more powerful, a lot of reverb and some delay/echo and a gong, those songs need a DOUM DOUM, for the kick i tried to make it soud like a basketball at some point for the bouncyness, it's supposed to make you feel like on an unstoppable march, resolute after the start that tried to pull you in. It has a bit of angryness and an will to escape thru elevation, the structure and melody is supposed to loose the listener, you hear the repetition but it's unexpected, and hopefully you also knew it was coming and where it's going at the same time. I found it work well for walking while head banging, albeit you can't hear anything, like cars or trains, so be wary !
It took quite the time to include this song in the mod, i think it's because i felt like something was a little off, or i wasn't sure what it meant for me, but now i realize it's because when i was younger and maybe untill now i thought feelings had to be reciprocal or they would lead to sadness, but now i feel liberated from this illusion, it's possible to just feel admiration for people that do not know you even exist, and feel ok about it, ( made me feel like a little monkey :) ) it's a positive feeling that can act as motivating force for going forward. I think it's kind of the actual final step on my reflexion when someone told me life is just about "choosing whose ass to kiss" which i thought was uterly stupid, being myself quite an independant mind. But i thought it'd be funny for the exercice of thought to find whose personnality i'd put on my cult list if i was such person that follow cult leaders. I think i would cultivate toward personnality that brings me inspiration and joy :) You probably don't care about all this , but this way if you think the song don't fit the Factorio game, at least you have some context for why it does for me :) , and why i like hearing this song. I hope you do too, it's not as positive sounding as the explanations , i made the song when i was sad, to stop beeing sad, and it worked for me, but it came only after some time, so the explanations i feel are important. I hope it works for you if you are sad too, that can happens sometimes !
