No, it's not only on your end. I didn't want to remake all the sprites again, so I left all of them as non-rotatable. I still don't think I want to do full rotation, but I will look into at least being able to flip / mirror them.
I am also running into issues with rotating buildings. I'd happily settle for sprites that dont change, but being able to flip/mirror them would still save a lot of headache. I remember back in ye olden days, the DyTech buildings would just move their inputs and outputs but the buildings would stay the same. Or, only have a vertical and horizontal sprite, but use the same sprite for 180 degree rotations.
Loving the mod, but the rigidity with placement is making us sad. :(
