Changelog

Version: 3.2.2
Date: 2026-11-05
  Features:
    - Added electric boiler power (default 1.8 MW) and efficiency (default 100%) startup settings.
  Compatibility:
    - Space Exploration: electric furnaces can run "kiln" recipes. The separate SE compatibility fix mod is no longer needed (and crashes when loaded alongside this mod).
    - Mobius1's Electric Boiler: this mod's electric boiler is skipped when it is installed, since both use the same name.
    - Marked incompatible with electric-furnaces-port, which uses the same building names.
Version: 3.2.1
Date: 2026-11-05
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed furnace recipes showing "Unknown key: recipe-name.iron-plate" (and copper/steel) with Hot metal plates turned on.
Version: 3.2.0
Date: 2026-11-05
  Features:
    - Added optional "Too hot to handle" startup setting (Space Age only, needs Hot metal plates, off by default). Players can't carry hot plates: any that end up in their inventory or hand are dropped at their feet until they cool.
Version: 3.1.0
Date: 2026-11-05
  Features:
    - Added optional "Hot metal plates" startup setting (Space Age only, off by default). Every furnace recipe from any mod that makes a plate now makes a hot plate, which cools into the normal plate after 30 seconds (adjustable) on belts, in chests or anywhere.
    - Hot plates can be cooled instantly in an assembling machine with a water input (unlocked with Automation 2).
    - Steel furnaces accept hot iron plates directly.
    - "Craft N plates" research triggers count hot plates while the setting is on.
Version: 3.0.1
Date: 2026-11-05
  Balancing:
    - Electric furnace 2 pollution 1/m -> 1.5/m, electric furnace 3 pollution 1/m -> 2/m, so pollution per plate matches the vanilla electric furnace instead of dropping with each upgrade.
Version: 3.0.0
Date: 2026-10-25
  Info:
    - Electric Furnaces (Reborn): continuation of GotLag's Electric Furnaces for Factorio 2.1, maintained by FallenPaladin. All original concept and graphics by GotLag.
    - New internal mod name without spaces (Electric_Furnaces_Reborn). Entity, item and recipe names are unchanged, so existing saves carry over when swapping from the original mod.
  Changes:
    - Updated for Factorio 2.1.
    - Split the stone/steel furnace setting into two separate toggles.
    - Electric boiler now matches the vanilla boiler's throughput (1.8MW, 60 steam/s) and its description explains it converts power 1:1 for steam-using recipes, not net power.
    - Added descriptions for all entities.
    - Advanced electric furnaces are skipped automatically when another mod (e.g. Bob's Assembling Machines) already defines electric-furnace-2/3; existing advanced-material-processing-3/4 technologies are extended instead of overwritten.
    - Missing vanilla prototypes, technologies or science packs (overhaul mods) no longer cause load errors; affected recipes are enabled from the start instead.
    - Cleaned up and restructured code; all graphics are now defined in one place.
  Bugfixes:
    - Fixed crash with mods that restyle vanilla furnaces/boilers (e.g. Kawaii Factorio): "attempt to index field 'working_visualisations' (a nil value)".
    - Fixed crash "next_upgrade target (electric-furnace-2) must have the same bounding box" with any mod that copies the electric furnace after this mod loads; incompatible upgrade links are now removed instead.
    - Fixed electric steel furnace possibly inheriting an upgrade target from other mods.
