How can I auto-deploy the bots from an assembler? Or remotely while being on a space platform?

Unfortunatly, unless another mod is used, you can't. Pretty sure the normal combat robots can't be spawn remotly as well.

That makes the robots unusable in Space Age. For example, I deploy destroyers in a hope that they will automatically clear biters and then I go to the space platform. But they just die on a second biters nests group and there is no way to launch more. What is the point then?

The idea behind the mod was to change the behaviour of the combat robots, not their spawn conditions. Since the vanilla combat robots can only be spawned by the player, this limitation also applies to the modified ones.

However, since you make a good case about them being usless unless being able to be deployed remotly, I will try to make this feature happen. Unfortunatly, I don't know if it is possible yet. I will keep you updated but can't tell you the time table yet.

The issue is that the combat robots currently are spawned by capsules. So for them to be spawn via remote view, I would have to rewrite so that they are spawn as entity. This, however, requires a complete rewrite of the mod which isn't happening that quickly.

Maybe a special building? Like a military bot deployer.

Something similar to roboports but specialy for combat bots. Or maybe let it work like a turret that launches the bot capsules (just like the player)

A special building could be a problem. Another way could be a custom command. I will see what fits best after I finished my current space age run.

i think i've come across a mod in the past that added combat robot shells for the artillery, that might be a solution

There is a mod named robot army. You can deploy its bots manually (like this mod's bots) but you can also use a deployer building. I think the same can be done for this mod. How easy would it be, is a different story.

The https://mods.factorio.com/mod/auto-deploy-combat-robots mod worked by deploying robots when you took some damage.
It isn't updated but it was very much possible in 1.1

Nvm, I misunderstood the problem. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/capsule-launcher is probably what you are looking for.
However, character auto deploy functionality for bots is still neat, would like having it too.

The challenge is to check which player spawns the combat robots. Without this information, I can't enforce the maximum robot follower count per player. I'm currently experimenting with allowing combat robots to be placed by construction robots. This would allow players to place them in remote view and would solve the issue regarding not being able to deploy them when not on the same planet.

I will also implement some way to automatically deploy them, or at least increase the amount that are spawn by a single click.

From version 2.1.25 onwards, both defender and destroyer units can be deployed as ghosts, enabling players to place them remotely.
