It might be something from the combination of mods I have since I'm running a wide array of planet mods, but with castra, while crafting the armory correctly requires nickel plate and gunpowder, recycling it gives tungsten instead

okay, sounds good - is there a way I could fix it for myself though? Tried looking through the lua files but I've got no clue what I would change to change the recycling outputs

data.raw.recipe["aop-armory-recycling"].results if i remember correctly
