wormholes-new-game-plus
I am a big fan of roguelikes.
I also really like Factorio Space Age's platforms and the idea of space bases.
I also really like the experience of setting up new resource outposts and the like.
I also happen to think the "congrats you won!" screen is a little lackluster for an ending.
And I remember reading a Factorio Friday Facts saying that the ending being what it is, is to allow modders to build on it.
New Game +
The dream is that a player can take themselves and one or more space platforms through a wormhole and leave all their spaghetti behind to create a new factory starting with all the hard earned progress of before.
With all technologies maintained, equipment equipped, and any items you brought on your space platform available, hurl yourself down onto unsuspecting planets with reset evolution values and enjoy steamrolling the early game experience without the technical debt your previous factories had accumulated.
Learning
This is my first time modding Factorio or working with LUA, please be understanding.
Code is licensed under GPL 3, which allows use with attribution and requires any code of mine you use, to also be licensed under GPL 3.
statement on AI
Generative AI was not used to create any code, graphics, or other assets;
in particular you will note the wormhole art is quite rudimentary as of v1.0.1 because I am not an artist.
However, Claude Code was helpful in assisting with troubleshooting for the first couple of days until I found my feet with LUA.
Roadmap
Things I'd like it to do:
- Pause whilst the wormhole dialog is open (if your platform moves away from the wormhole location automatically whilst it's open, you can be erased too)
- Autosave on entering the wormhole (like the space platforms do)
- Arrive over a random inner-system planet (currently the wormhole exits over Gleba, just because)
