Wood Pyrolysis
Convert wood into a full suite of chemical feedstocks — no crude oil required.
Thermally decompose wood in the Chemical Plant to unlock an independent
production chain for plastics, liquid fuels, and solid fuel, all based on
real industrial chemistry that predates the petroleum era.
Processing Chain
Wood Pyrolysis (Chemical Plant)
- 10 Wood → 5 Biochar + 25 Pyrolysis Oil + 25 Wood Gas
Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (Oil Refinery)
- 50 Wood Gas → 15 Light Oil + 10 Petroleum Gas + 10 Water
Bio-Oil Distillation (Oil Refinery)
- 50 Pyrolysis Oil → 15 Heavy Oil + 20 Methanol + 15 Water
Bakelite Synthesis (Chemical Plant)
- 20 Methanol + 1 Coal → 2 Plastic Bars
Methanol-to-Fuel (Chemical Plant)
- 50 Methanol → 1 Solid Fuel
New Content
| Name | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
| Item | Biochar | 4 MJ solid fuel, drop-in coal substitute |
| Fluid | Pyrolysis Oil | Dark bio-oil from wood decomposition |
| Fluid | Wood Gas | CO + H₂ syngas mixture |
| Fluid | Methanol | Wood alcohol — precursor to plastics and fuel |
Compatibility
All recipes use vanilla machines only — no new buildings.
Works with the base game and Space Age (Cryogenic Plant handles wood-pyrolysis and Fischer-Tropsch categories).
