AAI industry has crude oil processing recipe, please consider charcoal as a reagent as for advanced oil processing.

That is by design.

The concept is that advanced oil processing is a more "pure"/filtered process, using the charcoal as a purifying agent. For crude oil processing, the purifying agent of charcoal is absent, hence a more crude result.

I hope that illuminates why!

Though if the recipe is highly imbalanced, I'd be happy to reconsider that design, I just wanted to differentiate the recipes a bit for fun and it made sense when I was looking at the two. Maybe I could have charcoal for each but two charcoal for "advanced"

Oh, i see why… Though from gameplay perspective I felt like cheating that there is no need for reagent for this recipe. Also, this recipe is more desired as it has longer chain of productivity.

Yeah those are good points, I'll try and think of how the two can be balanced for gameplay

With 1.4.2 + AAI Industry, I've added coal to crude oil processing when adsorption is enabled, further differentiating the recipes. In some (probably most) situations this will still be vastly preferable, but I think as long as there's some benefit to advanced oil processing, I'll consider that good enough balance-wise.
