g Crash on load with 2.0.39 or mod version greater than 1.2.12

Dear,

Love your mod! But unfortunately running into an issue with the new update. Saves don't load anymore in 2.0.39, the load bar progresses, then a "running entity setup" bar appears (first time I've noticed that) and the game crashes with:
31.833 Error ElectricEnergySource.cpp:613: Invalid owner type
31.833 Error CrashHandler.cpp:643: Received 22

After some troubleshooting I found the following:
- 2.0.39 with mod version 1.2.12 -> crash
- 2.0.39 with mod version 1.4.4 -> crash
- 2.0.39 with no mod -> crash
- fallback to 2.0.32 with no mod -> crash
- fallback to 2.0.32 with mod version 1.4.4 -> crash
- fallback to 2.0.32 with mod version 1.2.12 -> OK
- fallback to 2.0.32 with mod version 1.3.1 -> crash
- fallback to 2.0.32 with mod version 1.2.16 -> crash

Issue seems to be related to that specific mod version. I've tried multiple saves, including ones from a prior session, which I knew loaded fine. But with mod version 1.2.12 all my saves load without a problem. Was thinking about updating the mod, but can't find any earlier mod versions >1.2.12 and <1.2.16 to test with and all the version I've tried are giving errors.

You need to make those links public, I can't download the save to try reproducing. (Should be an option along the lines of 'anyone with link')

Unfortunately I have no clue why this crash is happening. Could you open a new bug report with your save at https://forums.factorio.com/viewforum.php?f=7 so the devs can hopefully figure out what is going on? I think this crash is something that can only be fixed on their side. (They normally want to know about anything that causes the whole game to close.)

I'll spend some more time trying to at least repair the save for you. I'm able to go back to previous versions on the Git repo so that might help me figure out what is specifically causing the error.

However I also came across this from the devs on a similar bug report: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?t=126214

"The save file is corrupt.

It runs in that exact version as long as you don’t change anything. By changing anything it causes migration code to run which detects the corruption and crashes because it isn’t supposed to be in that state.

There are no known ways to get a save file into that corrupt state except computer hardware failure - which is outside of our control."

It's possible that your save is simply corrupted. You could confirm this by running "2.0.32 with mod version 1.2.12", and adding any other mod. If you get the same crash, you may just have a corrupted save. Probably report to the devs anyway just in case, especially if you have an older save that might not have this issue.

Hey Nauviax,

FYI:
- Launching with another mod, DiscoScience_2.0.1.zip in this case, also makes the load crash, as you suspected.
- Just posted a bug report, pending approval so cannot link it yet. Came across those topics as well when troubleshooting initially, getting stuck on 2.0.32 would be bad, but at least I'd be able to continue on that specific branch. Lets see :)
