b Turret's quality is ignored on turret upgrad

I had a nasty surprise when my starship got destroyed during trip to Nauvis from Fulgora, after doing a tad bit of investigation I've noticed that my rare turrets were replaced with a normal quality one once a research introduced by this mod was finished.
I don't believe this is a correct behavior.

Quality issue is resolved, unfortunately I've found an another issue, this time it is a research enhancement that is being ignored - Physical projectile damage - please note that I didn't check any other type of turrets beyond gun turret.

Are bugs not taking damage as expected? I'm seeing all of the bonus effects applied to all of the turrets affected by range research. This mod only swaps turrets with a prototype variant that has increased range and other identical attributes that is built on initial mod load. To my knowledge force bonuses like damage/shooting speed research apply at runtime and stack on existing entities effects with no direct change to the actual turret attributes.

Asteroids not bugs, and yes, they don't take expected amount of damage.

Without your mod, my spaceship can run at 240km/s to inner planets without any problems, cause my blue piercing rounds deals 12.8+35.84, while turrets is doing 12.8+172. As can be seen on left side of the attached image.

After adding your mod to my save and before doing any range research, everything seems to be correct, as can be seen on middle part of the attached image.
Unfortunately after doing the very first range research, turrets gets borked - notice Effect part on right side of the attached image - value there went down from 12.8+172 to 12.8+35.84, which results in fiery explosion of my spaceship at route to any inner planet at 240 km/s.

Also notice that the object source (? not sure if it is the correct term) - on the left it is Base Mod -> Space Age, on middle one it is Base Mod -> Space Age -> Turret Range Resarch and on right side it is -> Turret Range Resarch

Thanks for the thorough explanation and screenshot. That helped a bunch.

Turns out I didn't understand how research bonuses are applied and only saw the ammo bonus effects being applied. Research bonuses get applied to the particular tech effect specified by the research which then references particular prototypes. I ended up adding a turret tech effect for each variant and added it to the appropriate technology. Seems like it's working now.

Hello. Since thread wasn't closed and i have somewhat similar problem i'll explain it here.
Problem is an inconsistency in placing turrets with space platforms.
Somehow i managed to place basic rarity Gun and Laser turrets on my platform and they was upgraded.
But when i tried to replace some Gun turrets for Rare ones they were built unupgraded. Even rebuilt common(gray) ones. I was using remote view for building.
Then i returned turrets down to surface and placed them by hand to check and they got upgraded like they should.
Happy but doubting i send them back to space platform and problem repeated.
Lastly i launched myself to platform and tried building "in my presence", no effect.

I guess it's cause i don't place them myself and mod don't hook such things.

UPD: in struggles of gathering information and taking screenshots i found one thing - turrets get upgraded after save reload.

Good catch and thanks for the screenshot. I think space platform placement is a different event I'm not triggering on and the exact event might differ between manual placement versus blueprint placement.

Space Platform ghost placement is fixed in 1.1.0. There was indeed a different event trigger.
