Simple question, but: why is the Squeak Through mod a prerequisite for this one? It has pretty much nothing to do with power generation and has had some additional unforeseen consequences of its own. I understand making it optional, but why required?

Squeak Through messes with fluid boxes when on/off. When its always on i dont have to worry about that
