Description

This modpack is meant to encourage the use of trains and contains several of my mods. It does nothing on its own except change the default values of some mod settings (so make sure the mod settings are set to default after installing!). Here is a complete list of mods and setting changes and the reasoning behind them.

More Intermediates

Makes intermediates less "dense", meaning that you will have to transport more items. By default it's set to x3 but can be changed to be even higher. Note that the stack size is also modified so trains are not affected. This is by far the biggest change to balance, since it effectively slows down belts and logistic bots by a factor of three, making it unfeasible to connect a large ore patch by belt.

Place On Concrete

Allows belts and powered machines to only be built on player made tiles. This is meant to further nerf belts. It also adds to the realism because in real life constructing a huge conveyor belt would likely be much more difficult and expensive than laying train track. To get started you can place wood as a tile. Unfortunately this somewhat slows down the early game but it's not too bad.

Crafting Time Multiplier

This mod slows down machines and furnaces. The modpack changes the defaults to make furnaces 25% slower and other machines 50% slower. This is mainly to make your factory contain more machines, since it can look silly when your base is mainly made of rails.

Train Loaders

Makes loaders only usable for trains. Loaders are very helpful to make trains more convenient, but I don't like the loaders being used to feed machines since it makes inserters somewhat pointless. Of course, you should disable this mod if you like using loaders for chests and machines. Default setting changed to set the recipe of loaders to 5x that of the corresponding splitter.

AAI Loaders

This one is an optional dependency so that you can use your loader mod of choice.

Train Speed Multiplier

To outweigh some of the annoyances of this modpack trains are now 50% faster.

Mini Trains

Mod with very nice graphics to transport items that you only need in small quantities.

Compatibility

This modpack is meant to be usable with overhaul mods, so let me know if you run into issues with the major ones.
If you use this pack with Exotic Industries you will have to change the setting of More Intermediates to not apply to science packs.
If you use this pack with Space Exploration you should change the setting of Train Loaders to not modify the loader recipes.
