Thermal Solar Power (Lite)

Streamlined fork of Thermal Solar Power by MarximusMaximus and others. Contains the basic thermal solar panel (+ large version for better performance), heat exchanger & heat pipe. A new heat loss mechanism has been added, along with various features, visual updates, settings and new mod compat. The mod is carefully balanced for vanilla, but can be configured.

i Use normal heat pipe [CLOSED]

Considering that both basic and normal heat pipes have the exact same features. Why not just use the normal heat pipe?

Or add an option to optionally do that, so we don't end up with two heat sinks.

The thing is that as of now there's no reason to ever make a normal heat pipe, the basic one is way cheaper and works the same.

They actually don't have the same features (I hint at this in the mod description), and the differences are kind of important!

The Basic Heat Pipe has only a quarter the heat capacity of the vanilla variant. This makes it more suitable for the thermal solar complex, which is only hampered by heat energy buffers, but less suitable for nuclear setups, which can benefit from them in more than one way. It also transfers energy at half the rate, with temperature falling at twice the rate, thereby greatly limiting the effective range.

Also, just like in the original mod, I want the technology to be unlocked very early on, and a cheap heat pipe that doesn't need steel is appropriate for this purpose. It offers a bit of flexibility to the layout of the thermal solar complex, and I feel it just makes sense for it to exist. (They are also a part of the thermal panel recipe.)

But still, I can try and take a look at the mod again in the near future, with your suggestions in mind, and see if there is anything I want to change.

Then it makes sense, I just checked the HeatPipePrototype and the basic one is indeed basic in specs.

All right. Let me know if there is still some change you would like to see!

Perhaps making it look cheaper, but that may break the look of connections.

Ah yeah, someone actually made that request before, but I decided not to implement it, because the color would indeed no longer fit with all the connections. And I also really just like the color.
