Thermal Solar Power (Lite)

Streamlined fork of Thermal Solar Power by MarximusMaximus and others. Contains the basic thermal solar panel (+ large version for better performance), heat exchanger & heat pipe. A new heat loss mechanism has been added, along with various features, visual updates, settings and new mod compat. The mod is carefully balanced for vanilla, but can be configured.

b Not generating any heat anymore since last update [ON STANDBY]

Hi,

thanks for this great mod, I've really been enjoying it, especially in combination with the the steam robots mod.
Unfortunately, the last update seems to have broken the mod somehow, the solar panels are not producing any heat anymore, they cool down over night it seems, and newly placed panels stay at 15°C.

Could you please take a look into this?

Cheers.

Just a short update, I downgraded to verify and with 2.1.5 it works again.
If you have no idea what might have broken it, I am using quality solar panels as well, could that be the issue? Maybe not many use quality thermal solar panels, as quality generally is a later tech?

I will take a look at it!

For now, try to type /tspl check into the console, and see if the storage table (used by the heat-generating script) exists and if there is a mismatch of values. Then type /tspl reset and see if that resolves the issue at least temporarily, and to what extend. Is there a difference depending on quality?

Remember to maintain the save (don't overwrite), for further testing.

Uploaded v2.1.7 with a small change. Does it work?

Thinking about it, if the Quality mod from Space Age adds thermal panel variants with new name IDs (it most likely does), they will not be added to the internal storage table, which the heat-generating script depends on, and so they won't work. In which case, I will have to make a compatibility patch for it. But my first priority is to ensure that it works on a basic level. Can you test it on a save without Quality?

That test will need a little bit of an overhead.
I'm still working on a refactor/fix/extension of another mod and have keeping the author waiting a few days longer than expected already. I will pick this up right after, bit it might still be a few days until I can do so.

My plan is the following then (mostly so I don't forget what to do):
- Use 2.1.5 to do /tspl check and /tspl reset.
- Install 2.1.6 again to do /tspl check and /tspl reset.
- Install 2.1.7 again to do /tspl check and /tspl reset.
- Check if the problem persists with 2.1.7.
- Check the internal names of the items with quality.
- Post the results of all the former steps here.

If you want me to, I can post the 2.1.5 results right away, just let me know.
Also, if you do not have access to Space Age but are on Discord, feel free to poke me there, I might have a solution.

Check the internal names of the items with quality.

Done, the names and item IDs seem to not be affected by the quality, at least according to debug-tooltips, they all stay the same.

Thanks for the update, I appreciate the effort. Take your time.

As for your plan, you don't need to check internal names. I finally decided to buy the Space Age DLC, so now I know that things work differently than expected. But I could not reproduce the error with 2.1.6. Do remember to make a check after reset as well!

By the way, I have just uploaded v2.1.8! It adds compatibility for Quality, so the script applied to the thermal panels actually generate more heat according their quality tier. Whether this or the earlier version fixes the bug, I don't know.

Just saw your latest response. :-) I was able to confirm the same.
