Thermal Solar Power (Lite)

Streamlined fork of Thermal Solar Power by MarximusMaximus and others. Contains the basic thermal solar panel (+ large version for better performance), heat exchanger & heat pipe. A new heat loss mechanism has been added, along with various features, visual updates, settings and new mod compat. The mod is carefully balanced for vanilla, but can be configured.

g Compatibility for Bob's Mods [DONE]

Hey,

is this Mod compatible withs Bob Mods?

(updated a month ago)

I have just checked, and while it does work, the recipes aren't being adapted to the relevant mod, Bob's Power. (My mod does that for Sea Block, which uses Bob's Power, but not for Bob's Power on it's own or as part of other mod packs.) I will look into fixing it soon, but it may take a while, since I probably have to rethink the way that I ensure compatibility for various mods and mod packs.

Okay thanks!

I like this mod, and the Idea of temperature as a "more realistic" way for Power Storage.

Maybe another Idea from me is a High Tier Variant who combines a Photovoltaik Cell and a Termal Solar Cell. This creates less Power and less Heat as a single Photovoltaik Cell or a singel Thermal Solar Cell, but in Combination more Power were creates. What i Mean: A Photovolktaik Cell Creates 1 electric Power, a Themal Solar Cell creates 1 themal Power. The Advance Cell creates 0.75 electric AND 0.75 thermal Power. But i don´t know, if this is a good Idea.

Thank you, I am happy you like the mod :-).

I think it's an interesting and novel idea, co-producing electricity and heat from the same renewable source.

Realistically speaking though, producing steam efficiently isn't really possible without large parabolic troughs or mirrors + concentrating towers that can overcome increasing heat loss. My mod's thermal panels, that visually appear rather flat, are already pushing reasonable limits. But even ignoring that, trying to produce electricity as well would be at least doubly counter-productive, since solar cells are inefficient (or outright break) at high temperatures, and they would take away potential heat energy, quickly reducing steam production or halting it altogether.

More importantly, I really just like the aesthetics and practicality of not having to hook up every panel to the electric grid + battery storage. It is one of the major reasons I had for creating this mod fork in the first place.

In any case, thanks for your input! I like exploring ways to make power production more interesting as well.

I will see if I can update my mod soon.

Just uploaded v.1.3.4! The mod now works with Bob's Power independently of Sea Block. I took some time to generally improve the code, while I was at it. Anyway, go check it out!
