g Underground pipes are now invisible

(updated 7 days ago)

I may have missed something dumb, so please forgive me if I did, but since I updated a day or two ago the underground pipes are now always invisible. It doesn't seem to matter what the opacity is set to in the mod settings. If I'm in the editor, sometimes it will show them for just a short while (edit: as soon as I place them), but then they dissappear shortly after.

I also noticed there is a render distance setting that I don't know what it does. It probably has nothing to do with this, but I was curious what it was for.

Thanks so much for developing this mod. This is one of my favorites!

(P.S. - I just saw the message about posting on github. I will do that as soon as I can get back in and make a log file with a minimal mod set.)

This isn't a bug, no need to make a bug report. As mentioned in the changelog, underground pipes are only visible when holding an underground pipe in hand, so you need to do that before you can see them.

Them appearing when you build them seems odd, do you mind making a bug report for that explaining your steps?

Ahh, I missed that! Ok, that makes sense. Let me make sure I saw what I thought I saw. Does it ever make sense for it to have alternating colored and blue/ghost-looking segments? I'm going to try to make a reproducible behavior of anything I think is strange, but I also want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding what it should be doing.

The tinting should reflect the state, either ghost/normal/fluid color

I think everything makes sense for the most part. What I was seeing was in the editor, when I opened my existing save and copied/pasted existing underground pipes, the newly placed pipes would appear normally but then disappear. And this I think is what confused me.

Now, one thing I do see specifically on my existing save is that when I copy and paste an existing segment, the newly placed segment appears as an alternating sequence of placed and "ghost" pipes. One will be blue and one will be normal colored semitransparent. The fluid icon will be there regardless, and they will all disappear, but it's almost as if half of them are ghosts and half are real. But, they all end up there in the end.

Regardless, I don't think this issue is worth pursuing because my save game is an unholy hodgepodge of changing mods in a game that dates back to Factorio v1, so I don't think it's worth creating an issue for unless you are simply bored and want to cause grief for yourself.

One thing I do think would be cool, though, is if the pipes were visible when you performed a copy with them in the selection. That way you can see where you are pasting them. I don't know if that's worth an issue, but I thought I would mention it.

In any case, thanks so much for the mod!
