g Belts Please?

can something similar be done for belts as well??

I've looked into implementing a similar system for belts, and unfortunately with how hardcoded they are, there's no simple solution for it. I'd need to implement it a whole other way, which may be very performance heavy, especially in SA/(general term for mods with space exploration) saves. If/when I do implement it properly, it would be a whole separate mod because they work vastly differently under the hood.

thanks for the reply
I really like your implementation of Underground Pipes its incredibly elegant and fair and would love to see the same done for belts, there are other solutions out there but pretty much all of them either have a hard dependency on Space Age (no bueno if playing Py), seem kind of cheaty or both

That's good to hear, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Really? All dep on SA? Cheaty? I havent seen any other solutions, do you mind linking them?

I make all of my mods compatible with pY if not explicitly for pY (see BIM), it's the only Factorio I actually play aside from building challenges, and I'm currently maintaining pYBlock. So it's a big part of the inspiration for the specific implementation of my mods.

I definitely plan on looking into a belt solution, just know it will probably be a while.

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/beltlayer-by-orillien
- its a 2.0 port of a mod that was pretty much a must have for me prior to SA but sadly is now dependent on SA
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/UndergroundTransport
- I may be wrong (tech/material investment may justify it) but it looks like item teleportation to me (hence cheaty) and also dependent on SA

Dang, that's weird. Not sure why both of them require SA... the second one definitely seems cheaty though.

I have a Idea, but this Idea is not very elegant. You can create an UCB (Underground Connection Belt) , that convert all Items in Liquids and this new "liquids" can only transport with special Underground Belt (but the Belts are Pipes). But the Problem is, this transportain Method has no Time Delay.

The other Idea is to "Beam" the Items to an connectet UCB similar like UndergroundTransport , but the Player must build a manually connection with Underground Belts. If the player want to split the Item Flow, you add Unterground Splitters.

Simply, no. One of the mentioned issues with Underground Transport was that it was too cheaty by teleporting items. Even so, the proposed underground belts that are actually pipes have no defined directionality. Any items could 'flow' in any direction, including backwards. The same issue persists with your 'beam' suggestion. I won't be teleporting items, end of story. If/when I do get around to this implementation, I also won't be adding underground splitters, whether or not it could technically be done.

Okay.

So better no Solution as a bad implented Solution? Take you Time you need and if you can Solve the Problems, i will be very Happy!
