K2_TurretsFixed

by GLaDO5

This mod adds three large and powerful turrets and one small building that acts like a radar and opens up a small section of the map without scanning far sectors, but at the same time consumes a small amount of energy.

b Crash on startup with Terra Palus

Issue:
When launching the game with both the latest versions of K2_TurretsFixed 2.0.4 and Terra Palus 0.1.4, this error appears.

Failed to load mods: __terrapalus__/prototypes/entity/entities.lua:114: attempt to index field 'lamp' (a nil value)
stack traceback:
    __terrapalus__/prototypes/entity/entities.lua:114: in main chunk
    [C]: in function 'require'
    __terrapalus__/data.lua:4: in main chunk
Mods to be disabled:
- terrapalus (0.1.4)

I see that the game shifts blame to terra, but I also see that terra hasn't been updated in 7 months, so I'm unsure of if this would even be seen if I sent the report there, so I'm just sending it here until further notice.

Hi!
Yes, there are a couple of discussions in that mod, with the same error.
I can't somehow influence the correction here, but I made a local corrected version of the "Terra Palus" mod.

There's my lesson to check all the discussion posts even if I think the titles are vague, you're right. Theres a tldr at the bottom if you don't want the random story lmfao.

First off thanks for the quick response and fix, but secondly I must ask, have you only not uploaded this because you don't wish to deal with the upkeep of a planet? Or that you don't want to upload a fork for this single fix?

Because honestly I could see myself putting together a fully fixed version of the planet, I haven't made an actual planet of my own before or any content mods so I know it'll be scuffed, but currently looking at This launch crash (which you have fixed!), this request from Kryzeth for PlanetsLib compatibility (Terra is currently supposed to be a moon, but acts as a planet), many complaints about recipe pricing alongside Terra Palus Refining Rebalance which fixes that, there's already a decent amount of work thats been put in from seperate people to making it work better, and tons of more requests that seem like things I should be able to do (Add iron/copper Stromatolite, uranium, change solar power etc)

I just see this shaping out to be real similar to tenebris. I guess I'm just thinking that if you've given me the base for a slightly more updated version, that starting from here would be better than just doing it in the first place, so I'm getting super ahead of myself in wanting to fix a planet I haven't even landed on yet lmfao. Maybe I will maybe I won't, but I just had to ask for your permission to start from this fixed version if I do end up making a fixed fork. It wouldn't just be this file, if I do it I'm gonna at least fix up all the bugs on the discussion page, but now that I'm seeing all this in front of me its kind of hard to not want to do. The only stuff I don't know for certain that I can fix are some of the bugs from discussions, but having this crash solved from you, and the recipes fixed from Samario's mod (I'd probably just ask to ethically steal those better recipes), it feels like too good of a base to walk away from.

tldr; Would you mind if I uploaded your fork (with credit ofc) at some point? I probably won't even get it up to as good as I want it and probably won't upload it, still really have to think on if i want someone elses forked planet to be my first planet, but I'd like to ask for your permission to use your fix while I've got ya here.

Oh, there must have been some confusion here...
I'm not so much the author of the mod as, how can I put it more correctly, a random passerby :)
The author of the current mod kindly granted me the right to make some adjustments to the current mod, to tweak it a bit.
There are some mods that I rewrite (to the best of my knowledge and skills, but they are not very good), I use them only locally for myself, but I couldn't pass by this mod, since I really liked it, so I turned out to be that random passerby :), who made some corrections.

As for that mod, I quickly looked through the code, and yes, there are some things that can be fixed, but I didn't install it for my game, and didn't really delve into the various types of licenses - whether it can be forked.
As far as I understand, almost any mod can be forked, you just need to indicate the authors of the original mod and include them in the description.

Yea, I knew you had little investment in Terra so that's why I put the "Theres a tldr at the bottom if you don't want the random story lmfao." I didn't think you were the author, but yea there was really no reason for me to put all of these plans here, that was just random and confusing.

But you're still right, I already knew I could fork Terra when I sent that, I just wanted permission to be able to credit you as the person who fixed this bug, when that isn't something I need permission for at all LOL. It's all MIT licensed, it turns out asking for permission is actually more of a waste of time than just getting on with it!? I think that was my confusion. Thanks again and sorry for the confusion lol, I know you didn't make Terra, but my brain isn't used to not asking people for permission to use their stuff lol (even if its just some minor patches like you did), Factorio modding is a wild wild west... (okay I'm getting dramatic I should stop typing)
