Self-powered, off-grid lamps, radars and a daylight-only solar inserter for feeding turrets without power lines. Updated for Factorio 2.1. Continuation of Solar Appliances, originally created by radmin96 (code0rc).
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.
Version: 0.2.0
Date: 2026-10-25
Info:
- Continuation of Solar Appliances by radmin96 (code0rc), now maintained by FallenPaladin as Solar Appliances (Reborn).
- Internal names are unchanged, so saves using the original mod keep their solar lamps and radars after switching.
Features:
- Added solar powered inserter for loading turrets without power lines. Works only in daylight by default and shows "Waiting for sunlight" at night (suggested by neetzow).
- Added startup settings to turn each appliance on or off (suggested by neetzow).
- Added a startup cost multiplier for the solar parts and a choice of extra circuit (advanced, electronic or none) (suggested by neetzow).
- Added an optional startup setting giving the solar inserter a built-in battery so it works at night.
- Items, entities and technologies now show a small solar panel badge so they can be told apart from the normal versions.
- Added entity descriptions.
Changes:
- Updated for Factorio 2.1.
- Technologies are now defined directly instead of copied from base ones, so they no longer inherit unrelated base data.
- Removed the Electric energy distribution 2 prerequisite, which was unrelated and required blue science while the research itself only costs red and green.
- Solar appliances no longer offer an upgrade path to normal base entities.
- Space platforms count as always lit for the solar inserter; surfaces with no solar power keep it off.
Bugfixes:
- Ingredients are merged instead of duplicated when the chosen circuit is already in the base recipe.
- Recipe and item names and sort order are set explicitly instead of copied from the base item.
