Recursive Recycling

Scrap recycles into every recipe you currently have unlocked. Items that have a chance of loss give scrap instead. No ores, no trees, no rocks, just a recycler and your wits. Good luck!

i Scrap voiding

Two things about scrap voiding (incinerating):

1: I did not see the recipe until my rocket was at 70% because I assumed since hand crafting is disabled, probably all machines are disabled aswell. I only found out through accidentally opening scrap in factoriopedia and seeing that the "used in" section wasn't empty like I expected. I'm not sure if I'm alone here or if this should somehow be introduced to the player (e.g. via a research or trigger tech)

2: On that note: do we need a voiding recipe? In the earlygame you can just make buffers and blow them up every now and then (for tryhards: add the mod that spills items on the ground on container destruction) and later, you can think of something more elaborate involving biters, artillery, or trains.
What I did was a bunch of cars on a train track that get run over by a train and replaced by bots every now and then. This worked surprisingly well.

Either way, this mod was great fun, thanks for making it!

I've been meaning to add a tips & tricks item for scrap voiding, just to let people know it's there, so that will be coming soon.

As for whether or not scrap voiding should exist, Derek himself requested that it should be a thing, and I agreed. I wanted the "intended" void to be something that you could technically do at the start, but could progress right along with you as the player. Smelting was the perfect answer, as you unlock better furnaces, and eventually electric furnaces which can be powered by solar panels "for free".

Yes, there's plenty of other ways to get rid of scrap or push that problem much further down the line, but those are almost all temporary solutions. I like your solution with trains running over cars, that was impossible in versions before 2.0, and it's cool seeing what solutions people come up with for voiding mass amounts of items. I don't want to force people to be creative though, and the furnace recipe is something they can leverage at any point if they want to.

Thanks for playing the mod, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
