b Error

I updated from 1.3.2(or whatever it was) to 2.0, tried to load my game and twice got the error below.

I followed the instructions it shows, removed the mod, saved my game, reinstated the mod and reloaded the save, and that fixed it. But just in case, this is the error I was getting.

Also, I wasn't actually using a condenser in this save, only had the mod enabled from a previous save I used it in.

======================================================

The mod Quality condenser (2.0.0) caused a non-recoverable error.
Please report this error to the mod author.

the error triggers no matter if you place it down or not.

i had to make significant changes to the code that were too annoying to migrate so the mod is no longer compatible with earlier versions of the mod.

does that mean anyone who started with 1.3.2 or earlier won't be able to run 2.0 and should not upgrade?
or removing all condensers, remove the mod, save the game, then upgrade the mod to 2.0 and try again then?

Short version? Yes. From what I can tell you'll need to install the older version of the mod manually in order to continue using it on saves that were started on older versions of the mod.

You can get the older versions from the mod's Downloads page.

You can also, as you suggested, uninstall the mod and then reinstall it. I just tested this in an existing save game and it seemed to work. Mind that I had not yet placed any of these down yet so your milage may vary.

if you have some still placed down you'll lose those buildings, the module inside it, and any items inside.

if you remove the buildings first, uninstall, save, reinstall, then the only thing you lose is the research for it and any already crafted quality condensers.

if its too much trouble then just stay on 1.3.2 for your current world, just keep in mind that there won't be any bugfixes compatible with pre-2.0.0 versions.

Thanks for the information, Quezler, and your continued work on these and your other mods! Cheers!

Rather than make yet another duplicate - so I cant launch the save thanks to the error, so I assume I have no choice but to remove the mod, losing all items/modules in condensors as well as the condensors themselves? Then reinstall it?

How about if you KNOW your update is going to break everyone's save, don't f'n release it. So annoying.

thank you for your utterly useless comment gluegungeek2.

sometimes a mod needs an overhaul to improve its overall health, there were some things that i really needed to address but behind the scenes of the mod there was some complicated stuff i couldn't easily update so i choose to push a breaking change (notice the semver version) and i even was so kind as to provide an error message that had some basic instructions, you are the unreasonable one here, if it broke your world then downgrade the mod and avoid updating it, thanks to the error message it prevents you from saving the world with the new version so you can still use the old version of the mod just fine.

Meh, just ignore the trolls. I looked through the source code changes and it is a pretty significant improvement. Great work bud! You threw in a few flags that I didn't even notice before: quality_affects_inventory_size = false,

Only a minor inconvenience to reset a few modules. That is the nature of modded anything. Any update comes with the risk, and if people do not make a backup it is their own issue to rectify. Shit, you are doing this for free after all. And almost 10K people seem to think it is well worth the risk on this plugin alone.
