Appreciate the feedback! I hadn’t considered buffer chests on the output side but that’s something I will consider with the next feature release, which I’m working on.
If I add that, it’ll have to A) come with a setting to control whether buffer chests are configured with ingredient items or recipe items in basic operation (it’s gotta be one or the other), and B) I’ll have to set the default to ingredient items so as not to introduce braking changes.
The setting wouldn’t have any effect in autoconfigure mode, and you could technically use buffer chests for both because mod knows (via inserter direction) whether each chest is for input or output.
