g (Resolved) Resource Burner Mining Dril

(updated 3 months ago)

Hi there again.

Is there any chance we can get an Electric variant of this Resource Burner Drill ? OR an ability to request fuel from logistic system and no need for electric variant.
I am asking this because i find it usefull for concrete production where you need iron ore but not that much , and an electric mining drill mines too much.

The mod specifically does not make new drills but rather uses the drills that people were familiar with and likely wanted to use, so it copies existing drills. But yes, I too am not a big fan of the concrete recipe using iron ore, Sane concrete 2 was my answer. But I do understand the desire for slower drilling.
I will kick the idea around, maybe I will make another mod that supplies slow drills.
Have you looked at the tiny 1x1 electric miners? Maybe I could mod it to be slow.

Version 0.7.2 has been uploaded, adding a startup setting to add a slow 2x2 electric drill.

Thanks once again.
Now you know me i like things to look nice and i have another IDEEA once i saw your new Resource small electric miner 2x2.

Pipette "Q" does not work on the Resource Small Electric Mining Drill , Recipe is expensive id say 5 Plate , 3 Gears and 1 Electronic Circuit is ok. power Consumption id say 45 cause it mines half of the big one, or 50kW rounded up.

Would it be possible the 3x3 Electric Mining Drill to have a mining area of 3x3 in like the little one 2x2 and also the big one the 5x5 one.
I wouldnt mine if it locked under a selective setting in the mod menu, Electric Mining Drill to have a resource spawn of 3x3 and the big mining drill of 5x5.

Ideea is so you can Put different miners 1 near the other and not to worry if it will mine copper or copper+iron+stone+coal
To sum this up , we can have x different miners close to eachother and doying their job like the 2x2 ones does without interpolating resources.

Another good suggestion, thank you!
Version 0.7.3 has been uploaded. I did not make changes to the recipe or the power. In my mind, the current settings are not that bad, and are basically arbitrary anyway. A burner drill uses 150 kW of energy. Balance is in the eye of the beholder, very subjective.

Version 0.8.0 has been uploaded, scaling the ingredients to 2/3 and energy usage to 1/2 of the electric mining drill.
This should work with modded recipes of the electric mining drill.

Maybe we can do something about those Resource slow electric miner ... would it be possible a conversion of the Resource electric miner to the small one ?
For instance a CTRL+Z to change the big one to the small one.... atleast this way we wont have more miners in there.
so i`m saying i build like 100 miners , and lets say i need 10 small ones, i put 90 in trash sellect those 10 press CTRL+Z and get 10 slow ones.
The recipe for the small one can be removed because we use conversion, but if possible the slow miner to consume less if not possible then as it is the big one.
Just a question along with the ideea.

sigh. I will work on it.

I think you will need to lobby for this idea. I do not think it is intuitive to magically convert items, when they are not otherwise the same.
Converting from one drill to a completely different one does not seem correct.
To remove the recipe for the Resource mining will remove it from sight in the game. Only by knowing the conversion keybinding could you make one. How should a Resource slow electric mining drill then be recycled?

it is good as it is mate :D thank you.
too much mambo jambo is not good :D

I could make the recipe the same as an electric mining drill, and set it as hidden. A recycling recipe would still be generated, so maybe not an issue.

eh, cross-posted there. Agreed, we will leave it as it is. At least for now.

no need leave it as it is :D

1 more thing about the Resource slow electric mining drill,
I think being an alectric drill it should atleast have 1 module slot since it is 50% of the big one.

(updated 2 months ago)

Hahaha, I purposely did not put slots because you wanted slow. Since it is 2/3 the size, it should have 2 slots rather than the vanilla 3? Everything else about it is 2/3 except for power, it is 1/2.

0m0w1c, i wanted slow yes ofcourse, but more than anything i wanted ELECTRIC slow, so i dont have to do with resource.

You know why i am asking for slots?

Because miner outputs 15/min but the Furnace needs 18.75 so i need to be on par with that.

(updated 2 months ago)

parity is 5 miners = 4 furnace

Version 0.8.3 has been uploaded, adding two module slots.

I have made a couple guesses as to what you would prefer, only to be wrong and need to change it. But no worries, that is on me.

(updated 2 months ago)

please tell me man ?

I wanted to be able to put module inside so i can come close to 18.75 that a furnace burns...because the miner outputs 15.

I do not understand, tell you what?

The new version has added the slots, they accept the same modules as the electric mining drill.

But should I change the drill or encourage you to invest in mining productivity research? :P

how many mining productivity needs for the miner to go to 18.75 production ?
25%productivity

2 levels would be 18/s
3 levels would be 19.5/s

So with effort it is achievable, but to get to 3 levels is too late in the game. Modules are a good answer.

Beacons would work too.

Check out my small Blueprint for Electric tiles :D

I need a word, do you have any way i can contact you like discord or something ?

I am on the Factorio discord server, you can DM me there, same username as here.

Are you by chance also using Foundations? I like the Electric Tiles mod, I plan to do more messing around with it.

i am using foundations, for sure ... and electric tiles ...

I wanted to talk to you if you are willing to help Joss a little you know we want to make the space platform for ground to be " THE" Electric Tile, cause i found concrete tiles not really electricity conductive.

That is why i told you to shrink resource area , so i can see the tiles underneath the miners ... and to add tiles underneath the miners in the 1st place remember :D

Would I help? Sure. Although I thought the author of Electric Tiles already has it working? He has this pic.

i do not see that tile in the mod, some debug he said ...it is a very nice tile indeed.... for electric tiles.
