b [Not a bug] Chute ignore insert limits

(updated 9 days ago)

Hey,

since 2.0, chutes seem to ignore insert limits, f.e. i got 250 water barrels in my factory even with a stack size of only 50.
No issue with loaders.

I am also using the Loaders Modernized: Pyanodons mod:

This is intended. Chutes were supposed to be cheap, gravity feed chutes. They were not supposed to be able to load onto belts, or have any advanced functions like machine full awareness, filters, or split lanes. However, that train left the station.

When this mod loads, it will detect if there are chutes outputting and enable the runtime setting that allows chutes to load onto a belt - as they were before.

By default the startup setting for Chutes mode will be "Basic". No filters, no split lanes, and no awareness of insert limits. They will insert as much as the machine will take. You can change the startup setting to "Filtered" to get those capabilities back on all existing chutes. Your play style, your choice.

Okay thanks ^^

But it would be still nice to have a setting that only disable this behavior (or make it toggleable), because when i set them to "Filtered" they are to powerful.

That's a fair critique. I can add another chute mode that only enables the respect insert limit capability. I am considering making it unconditionally static. That is, something that all chutes operate that way, and cannot be toggled while running or per-chute. Chutes are intended to be very limited and in my haste getting the mod built initially I made them too powerful and now people are used to it.

Great, thanks again 👍

Basic-limited is now available as a chute mode.
