Loaded Turrets Continued is a fork of infogulch's Loaded Turrets, updated to work with Factorio 2.0.

Adds recipes to craft ammo-based turrets pre-filled with the ammo of your choice. Place a loaded turret and it's ready to fire within a second or two, instead of waiting for a nearby inserter or bot to load it up. Great for turret creep and rapid base defense, without the usual scramble to get ammo into position first.

How it works

Craft a loaded turret from a regular turret, an electronic circuit, and the ammo you want pre-loaded. The recipe is quick (0.5s), but consumes the ammo and a circuit — think of it as jerry-rigging an inserter's brain straight into the turret.

Research progression

Loaded turret variants unlock progressively, based on whatever technology actually unlocks each type of ammo:

  • The default ammo type, once you have Military 1.
  • Each further ammo type, as soon as the tech that unlocks that ammo is researched — for vanilla bullet turrets, armor-piercing loaded turrets become available alongside Military 2.
  • Further tiers, gated on whatever tech unlocks the remaining ammo types (such as Uranium Ammo).

This is derived automatically rather than hardcoded, so it should works with ammo and turrets added by other mods (tested against Krastorio 2).

Differences from the original mod

  • Updated for Factorio 2.0 (prototype/API changes, recipe format, etc.)
  • Reworked research progression as described above
  • Dropped the doubled-ammo-count variant.

All credit for the original design and implementation goes to infogulch. See the changelog for full details.
