I might need a save file to test with, but I couldn't recreate the issue with either a brand new save file, or while loading up my existing save file. I haven't tested adding the mod to an existing save file that didn't have it enabled from the beginning though.
There might be another mod affecting the way the chest filter is created (it basically adds 1 slot for each item type as a whitelist when the chest is placed on a space platform); if the filters aren't created properly, then nothing can be placed inside.
