Industrial Gearboxes accelerate production without modules. Compact 2×2 drives affect compatible assembling machines, furnaces, mining drills and labs within three tiles of their casing.

Each machine can benefit from up to three gearboxes at once. If more are nearby, the three strongest powered drives are used. Their speed and energy-use bonuses add together. Three tier-3 gearboxes provide +900% speed.

The strongest contributing drive applies one shared productivity and quality penalty. Tiers 1 / 2 / 3 subtract 5 / 8 / 10 percentage points from productivity bonuses and 0,5 / 1 / 2 percentage points from quality chance. For example, tier 3 reduces a +30% productivity bonus to +20%, and a 10% quality chance to 8%. Recipe base output is preserved. Quality penalties do not apply without Quality.
If the reductions in quality and performance parameters seem too small to you, let me know, I might add support for adjusting these parameters individually for each tier of gearboxes(honestly, for now, I just really don’t feel like it.). Casing quality does not increase the fixed bonuses.

Tier 1 is available before oil processing. Tier 2 follows electric engine research. Tier 3 requires effect transmission and productivity module 3.
