Halo Scarab


The Deutoros-pattern Fortress Breaker (UNSC Type classification: Type-47B Deutoros, T-47B Ultra-Heavy Assault Platform), or Scarab, is a large, heavily armored, all-terrain, quadrupedal walker. Classified as a tier-four Excavator, the Deutoros-pattern Scarab was employed by the Covenant as a siegeworks ultra-heavy artillery assault platform. Originally for mining operations and deep excavations on widely varied terrain, the Deutoros-pattern Scarab has since been repurposed for combat.

Like Halo? Like Factorio? Here's a fantastic Halo Factorio mashup.
Enjoy commanding the iconic scarab from Halo, complete with automatically firing dorsal plasma cannon, and excavation beam! You can add your own equipment just like any Spidertron too.
Whilst slower and harder to maneuver than the Spidertron, this makes up for it in raw power, stomping feet, and most importantly style.
I see this little project as an example of what pushing the SpiderVehicle prototype to the engines limits can do.

Features

  • Add a late-game research to unlock the scarab as a buildable entity
  • Adds the Scarab (An additional Spider-Vehicle, with equipment grid too), with full graphics compliment, armament, and functionality.
  • Scarab automatically deals damage with its stomp attack, by firing a front facing excavation beam, or by firing from its dorsally mounted rotating plasma cannon.

Compatibility

Simply adds entity, and references base-game and space-age assets. Compatible with all mods that don't alter base game items affected. If you wish to add the scarab to your own mods, simply add as a dependency, and alter the recipe and technology to wherever it fits in data-updates.lua! (This mod will always be developed as a functional "stand-alone" for this reason.

Future Goals

  • Add Enemy AI Spider-Units based off the Scarab to spawn on my Halo ring mod.
  • Add small arms fire / plasma rifle turrets for rapid fire against many low health targets.
  • Add better sound design rather than base game sounds.
  • Clean up my messy code.
