Gleba made simple


A mod to simplify the Gleba biome by removing spoilage from most intermediate products (configurable) while retaining it for essential items. Also introduces new recipes to feed biter spawner and produce nutrients/spoilage.

Gleba Made Simple

Although I think Gleba is a one of the best planets there is in Factorio, its mechanics, and especially the spoilage of everything on the planet makes it quite challenging. Some players have even created mods to disable the entire Gleba experience!

Gleba Made Simple aims to simplify the Gleba biome by removing spoilage from most intermediate products while retaining it for essential items like iron and copper bacteria. Additionally, it introduces processed biomass that can be used as a food source for biters, and provides recipes to produce nutrients and spoilage on demand when needed.


Features

Configurable Spoilage Removal

  • Remove intermediate spoilage: Toggle spoilage on/off for most Gleba items
  • Optional spoilage for agricultural science packs: Choose whether science packs should spoil
  • Optional spoilage for pentapod and biter eggs: Prevent eggs from hatching
  • Note: if you enable those options on an existing save, existing items keep their spoilage timers; only newly-created items are affected.

New Item

  • Processed Biomass: Enhanced biomass fuel created from wood and nutrients
  • Can be used as food for captive biter spawners
  • Compatible with heating towers and other fuel-burning machines

New Recipes

Natural decomposition is available with the biochamber, other recipes are unlocked by the new Biomass Processing technology.

Spoilage Production

  • Natural Decomposition using water and 1 nutrient or 1 wood
  • Oil-Contaminated Decomposition using crude oil and 1 nutrient
  • Wood Waste Decomposition produces more spoilage quickly using wood and heavy oil (some petroleum gas as leftover)
  • Fish Waste Decomposition is the most efficient for maximum spoilage production using raw fish and heavy oil

Resource Production

  • Processed Biomass using 5 wood and 1 nutrient
  • Nutrients from Composting using water and 10 wood

Compatibility

  • Factorio Version: 2.0+
  • Required DLC: Space Age
  • Works on all surfaces: constraints are on pressure only (0 to 4000) so likely to work on new planets mod as well.
  • Save-game compatible: Can be added to existing saves (existing items retain their spoilage timers)
