Endless resources

Makes all ore deposits infinitely mineable. Includes modded ores, crude oil and modded liquids. Works in multiplayer and in games with multiple surfaces. In contrary to most other endless resource mods, this one does not convert the numbers on the ore patches to percentages and therefore still has ore patches change their size every now and then and let miners show the correct ratios.

b Drills stop working on freshly "refilled" patches

Somehow drills stop working saying they ran out of ressources while the ressources seems to be freshly "refilled".
Removing and replacing the drill seems to fix the problem but happens a lot (not sure if it happens more than once on the same drill/spot).
I guess somehow it reached 0 ressources and stopped working but doesn't detect when it suddenly is refilled.

Does this also happen to drills that mine on more than one tile?

Ignore that question, I just updated the mod with a mechanic that should fix it for most realistic use cases. If you want more details, I'll add it in the FAQ.

Yes, weirdly enough it also happens with drills that have well over 50% of their drill tiles tiles on ore patch.
Not sure but I think I had a few cases where the drill was actually sitting in the middle of a ore patch.
I didn't check, but are you filling the patch when it completely runs out of ore? If yes maybe refilling it slightly earlier might do the trick (like refill when <100)

Anyway, thanks for the quick fix.

You're welcome.
I can't really refill it earlier since there is a special event the game triggers when a patch runs out. Checking it earlier was what I did long years ago but your PC would not like that solution I can assure you. This is why I changed it.

I have similar problem with omega drills mod. I don't know if that can be fixed, but when scrap ore runs out on fulgora, scrap is being refilled, but drills can't see that, so they show resource empty communicate. I have to manually pick up the drill and place it again to work

Ok, please answer the following questions for me to reproduce it:
1. Does this happen to all of your drills of this type mining on scrap?
2. Are the drills that have this problem mining on a single patch of ore or multiple at the same time?
3. What is the mining area of those drills?
4. Can you add a screenshot of the situation (one example is enough) for me to better understand? I don't have the expansion yet because I don't have the time to play Factorio right now :(
5. Is it possible to rotate the drills?

  1. I have 4 placed on scrap, but currently only 1 is working so i don't know, but it also happened on Vulcanus with coal. I had to pickup the drill and place it again to work.

  2. If im understanding this correctly, then I think they are placed on multiple at the same time. Screens below.

  3. 25x25

  4. Drill placement: https://imgur.com/f9d4kt2

Currently I dont have a screen showing exact situation because I already picked up and placed drills, but it looks exactly the same but with that icon on the drill showing that there is no resource to mine and they don't work. But ore is refilled and in the range of the drills.

  1. It is not. I can't rotate them. They have inbuild small storage at the bottom of the drill and i think that is the reason why they can't be rotated

So the problem is actually pretty simple in terms of the code behind it... and also not that simple to fix. The thing is, the drill has to be reset somehow. The mod does that normally by rotating the drill and instantly turn it back (in Factorios logic, that is the same as building it new but copying its stats). Your modded drills are not rotatable (designed by the other mod, the sprite is symmetrical). Therefore your drills get never reset and run out eventually because they don't understand that the ores get refilled. I will have a look at the API and search for a different way to reset the drills but for now I can't offer you a quick fix. You can of course ask the author of the other mod if he can make the drill rotatable, that should not make that much of a difference for the other mod.

Ok I see. I made discussion on omega drills mod page, now I'm waiting. Thank you

Good news. I looked into omega drill files and i found a line responsible for drill rotation. I changed it and now drills are rotatable and that should fix my problem. Thank you!

Ok I know its a bit late, but it didn't fix the issue. Drills still go dry after some time :(

not for me :/
