Currently, with this mod, it's possible to 'recycle' partially-used science packs by stacking them with unused science packs. This can be pretty trivially done once you get stack inserters and combinators to remove 1 science pack (the used one) from a lab via lab chaining mechanics and put it into a belt box with 4 science packs, then move the stack to another belt box, where 1 pack is fed back into the lab and 4 packs are fed into the original belt box.
Without combinators, this can only make one pack infinite at a time per pair of boxes, but with combinators, it is possible to both slow down your labs enough that they won't use up a whole science pack before you can 'recycle' it and, via circuit-set filter inserters and a buffer chest with at least 4 of each science pack, make every science pack infinite at the cost of some research speed. My suggestion would be for science pack compacting to take 6 science packs, not 5, and yield 5 science packs when unpacked, thus voiding the potentially partially used science pack and removing this 'recycling' effect.
