Re-enables quality modules for asteroid reprocessing in Crushers, restoring the Factorio 2.0 behavior that 2.1 removed. Also stops 2.0 saves from losing the quality modules already installed in crushers.
Crusher Quality Again
Factorio mod · factorio_version 2.1 · requires Space Age and Quality.
Re-enables quality modules for the asteroid reprocessing recipes of the
Crusher (assembler), restoring the behaviour Factorio 2.0 had.
Why this is needed
Factorio 2.1 gates recipe quality with the per-recipe boolean allow_quality
and sets it to false on the three reprocessing recipes:
metallic-asteroid-reprocessingcarbonic-asteroid-reprocessingoxide-asteroid-reprocessing
While a crafter runs a recipe with allow_quality = false the game removes
quality modules from it. When a 2.0 save is loaded in 2.1 those modules are
deleted outright during migration; they are not moved to an overflow
inventory, which is why upgrading silently destroyed quality modules that
players had built up over many hours.
This mod sets allow_quality = true on every recipe whose name contains
reprocessing, so reprocessing recipes added by other mods are covered too.
Behaviour
| Situation | Factorio 2.1 vanilla | This mod |
|---|---|---|
| Inserting a quality module into a crusher set to a reprocessing recipe | refused | inserted, quality applies |
| 2.0 save with quality modules in crushers, loaded in 2.1 | deleted | kept |
Installed recipes keep their other restrictions
(allow_productivity = false, allow_decomposition = false) and the recipes
stay otherwise identical, so only quality is restored.
factorio-current.log records what was changed:
Script @__crusher-quality-again__/data-updates.lua:56: [Crusher Quality Again]
allow_quality re-enabled on: carbonic-asteroid-reprocessing,
metallic-asteroid-reprocessing, oxide-asteroid-reprocessing
Compatibility
- Runs in
data-updates, so recipes modified by other mods'data.luaare
seen; a mod that setsallow_quality = falseindata-final-fixeskeeps its
choice, which is correct load-order behavior. - The crusher itself is not restricted in 2.1 (
allowed_effectsalready lists
quality). If another mod trims that list, this mod putsqualityback. - Saves can be downgraded by removing the mod; quality modules will then be
removed from crushers running reprocessing recipes again.
Recovering lost modules
Modules deleted while migrating a 2.0 save into 2.1 are gone from that save and
cannot be restored by this mod, which only prevents further loss. Either load a
save written before the first 2.1 load with this mod active, or craft new
quality modules.
