I'm going to look into this after the weekend. It's been reported before, but for personal reasons I haven't been able to spend the time looking into it.
Expect a fix sometime next week.
The latest version should fix any crashes :), the size of the contraptions/map doesn't really matter, it's just incompatibilities with other mods. Right now it should all be fixed.
