Hi there. An immediate alternative might be to adjust richness down, so you require more drilling rigs. (using eg Change Map Settings mod).

Thinking a bit more, I could probably add a setting to slow the rate of extraction by Drilling Rigs, as well. This might be a better general fix for such issues.
