Brave New OARC Scenario


This mod is a scenario that overhauls multiplayer merging Brave New World and OARC for an awesome single player / multiplayer game. Play on teams or solo in your own base, while other players do the same. Chat with players, learn from their builds. You get to do your own design. You choose to play legacy character mode, or BNO Mode where you have no body, unable to craft anything yourself (lazy bastard) and must command bots to build everything. You start with resources and a little power.

1) Announce to player - incoming biter group. Maybe I turn this off after an hour in game, but initially - if you forget to get defenses or as a reminder to check ammo - this may be useful - albeit potentially irritating. Chime in ...
2) Game play seems decent. Most players attempt a very tight main base and resist going outside of main, at least until they get blue science. I can get upto blue science, but just before reaching blue - iron becomes very weak. So you upgrade to red belts and steel smelters - and squeeze harder. But it becomes apparent that you must get out to get that iron nearby. I recommend people hosting to increase the frequency of Iron and Coal to make it reachable with just turrets. I needed to go get iron to progress to the laser turret stage. Lasers with some upgrades are great for expanding as is tanks - to run over biter bases and retreat to a laser line.

I've decided to hold off on the announcement of incoming biter group, with a ping location. The mod disallows clicking on the ping, until that is resolved it would be useless/frustrating information. Also I want to add a setting in game that allows a player to turn on/off this, to eliminate complaints of my driving people crazy.

I added selection of number of starting bots a choice between "10/5", "50/25", "100/50", "200/100" for construction/logistics. I don't allow you to type a value since the starting roboport can only hold 350 max bots, so no error possible with above choices. Default to 100/50.

I removed the special bots. All bots are normal Construction or Logistic. So if you are in fast bot mode, when you make new bots they will all be the same speed. When I played, I avoided making new bots because slow bots with fast bots are very irritating.

I HATE that I added "use config.lua setting". Most people don't care or want to look up what that setting is. I may remove this, but this impacts those guys using config.lua - so dilemma. More thinking required on this. Chime in !

Some progress today:

We now have a end game scenario - previously if one person's main roboport died, every one died. But the biters are not attracted to the roboport, so why would they ever kill it? Well the Radar pisses the off, so they might go through the roboport to get to the radar, but that is not good enough.
The changes: Biters HATE your main roboport and if they get near it, they will aggressively attack it. Other roboports do NOT piss off biters.
If the main one dies, you immediately get thrown back to 0,0 location and are able to restart, rejoin a force. No one else is impacted.

Fixed RESTART player so the menu comes up once they go back to 0,0.

Your name remains on the ground of your base forever! You live an immortal life! and other players will know who owns that location.

Number of starting bots added to your mod settings - you choices: 10/5, 50/25, 100/50, 200/100 for construction/logistic bots
The max bots in starter roboport are 350, so I think these are good options. If you choose 10/5 I recommend also clicking on the resistance values to make them "nearly" indestructible.

See the readme.md for a full description of all the changes. This one is a pretty big leap, including km/h selection of speed instead of just a fast checkbox. BTW the old km/h for fast bots were 108 km/h and slow was 12.9 km/h for construction and 10.8 km/h for logistic.
