FAQ

Q: Can I safely add this mod to an existing savegame?

A: Yes, 100% safe! You can add this mod to any new or existing world at any time. Your existing placed tanks, stored fluids, pipe alignments, and circuit network connections are completely preserved.

Q: Which older mods does this replace?

A: It is a universal drop-in replacement and rescuer for: * 15×15 Mega Tanks (1,000,000 capacity): Replaces BigStorageTank (DellAquila), BigStorageTank - Fork, and all 1M variants. * 5×5 Industrial Tanks (100,000 capacity): Replaces Large Storage Tank (Valerian), Bigger Storage Tank (Velaanix), and Super Tanks (Sil3ntSt0rm / Styxy). * Automated Savegame Migrations: Built-in JSON migrations automatically rescue 5×5 tanks upon loading saves from Underground Storage Tank (fgardt), Zithorian's Extra Storage Tanks (5x5 variants), and Angel's Addons - Pressure Tanks (JAX-35).

Q: How do I switch from my old tank mod to this one on an existing save?

A: It only takes a few seconds:
1. Save your game.
2. In the Factorio in-game mod manager, disable or uninstall the older mod (e.g., BigStorageTank-Fork, Large Storage Tank, Bigger Storage Tank, or Super Tanks).
3. Enable One Million & 100 k Storage Tanks Animated.
4. Load your save. All your existing tanks will automatically upgrade to the new high-definition animated models with all fluids and circuit wires completely intact!

Q: Does this mod work with both Factorio 2.0 and Factorio 2.1?

A: Yes, both game branches are actively supported: * Factorio 2.1.x (2.1.23+ Public Default): Supported via mod version 0.7.2+. * Factorio 2.0.x (up to 2.0.77 / Console): Supported via mod version 0.7.1.

(When installing through the in-game mod browser, Factorio automatically selects and downloads the matching version for your game client).

Q: Is it fully compatible with the Space Age expansion and new planets?

A: Absolutely! * Aquilo (Cryogenic Mechanics): Built-in thermal heating (300 kW for 5×5, 1000 kW / 1 MW for 15×15) keeps fluids flowing sub-zero. Unheated pipes show frosty frozen pipe covers. * Vulcanus: Full native support for extreme heat, volcanic lava, molten iron, molten copper, and fluoroketone. * Orbital Logistics: Rocket cargo weights are balanced for space platform launches.

Q: How does the direct percentage circuit output (signal-P) work?

A: Simply connect a Red or Green circuit wire to any of the 4 corner terminals. In addition to standard fluid volume and temperature signals, the tank directly emits virtual signal [signal-P] with the exact fill level from 0% to 100%. No arithmetic combinators required!

Q: Can I customize the fluid capacity of the 5x5 Large Storage Tank?

A: Yes! A startup setting is provided under Settings -> Mod Settings -> Startup named large-storage-tank-fluid-size (default is 100,000). You can adjust it to match your preferred factory balance.

Q: How does Bob's Mods compatibility work?

A: If Bob's Logistics is present, the mod automatically detects the global tank multiplier (bobmods-logistics-storagetankbase) and scales both tanks proportionally (4× and 40× base capacity) so they never feel underpowered. It also adopts Bob's crafting item subgroups and protects tech trees.

Q: Why does the extensible roof hose dock and park automatically?

A: It is a dynamic mechanical feature! When the tank is empty, the hose and cap stay parked in resting position on the wall pump. As soon as incoming fluid is detected, the hose extends and docks onto the roof. If the tank remains empty for more than 2 seconds, it automatically uncouples and parks back on the pump.

Q: Where can I report bugs, request features, or view the source code?

A: * GitHub Repository: lucas-pelayo-ia-engineer/big-storage-tank-hd * Bug Reports & Feedback: GitHub Issues or the Discussion tab right here on the Mod Portal!
