Adds 2 Tiers of Pumpjacks with an addition of Pumpjack specific Productivity Research, levelling repeatably in the late game, fully configurable settings and an interactable dashboard with statistics. Designed specifically for the SE + K2 combo, but made to fully work with Base and Space Age.

Better Pumpjacks

Better Pumpjacks expands oil extraction with two powerful new pumpjack tiers, configurable balance settings, and dedicated pumpjack-only productivity research.

Upgrade your oil fields from the vanilla pumpjack to Pumpjack MK2 and Pumpjack MK3, then continue improving them through repeatable productivity research without affecting regular mining drills.

Pumpjack Tiers

Pumpjack MK2

A faster and more efficient upgrade for mid-game oil production, with additional module slots and improved productivity.

Default values:

  • 1.5x mining speed
  • 4 module slots
  • +10% base productivity
  • 180 kW energy usage

Pumpjack MK3

A powerful late-game pumpjack designed for high-output oil fields, with even greater speed, productivity, and module capacity.

Default values:

  • 2x mining speed
  • 8 module slots
  • +20% base productivity
  • 300 kW energy usage

Pumpjack Productivity Research

Better Pumpjacks includes dedicated productivity research that affects Pumpjack MK2 and Pumpjack MK3 by default.

Each completed level increases pumpjack productivity without boosting normal ore-mining drills.

Default values:

  • +10% productivity per level
  • Maximum applied level: 50
  • Research cost formula: 1000 + (L * 1000)
  • Vanilla pumpjack support: disabled by default

Because this is a custom pumpjack-only system, the bonus does not appear in Factorio's standard bonus list.

Notes

Changing start-up settings requires restarting the game.

For multiplayer, all players and the server should use the same mod version and startup settings.

Hidden productivity variants are used internally to keep productivity pumpjack-specific. Some planner mods may show these hidden variants if they do not ignore hidden prototypes.

Modules that do not fit after a pumpjack replacement (e.g. due to a settings change reducing module slots) are spilled on the ground rather than deleted.

Built for players who want stronger oil-production progression without replacing the rest of Factorio's mining system.
