Auto Pole Lights

Never place lamps by hand again. Whenever you build an electric pole, lamps are placed right next to it automatically.

How it works

  • Built by hand: lamps are taken from your inventory. If you run out, the missing ones are placed as ghosts for your robots.
  • Blueprints, copy & paste, out-of-reach building, undo: every pole ghost gets lamp ghosts next to it. Personal or network robots build them together with the pole.
  • Trees and rocks under a lamp ghost are marked for deconstruction automatically. Ore patches are no obstacle.
  • No duplicates: if a pole already has a lamp (from a blueprint or placed by you), nothing is added.

Works with small and medium electric poles, big electric poles and substations.

Default layout

  • Small / medium pole: one lamp on the right. If blocked: left, top, bottom.
  • Big pole / substation: two lamps on each side (left + right). If blocked: top + bottom, then two on one side, then a single lamp.

Custom layout

Open the settings with Shift+L or the shortcut button and enable custom priorities. A grid shows the pole and every lamp slot around it:

  • Left click cycles a slot: off → primary → optional 1, 2, 3 …
  • Right click turns a slot off.
  • Primary slots are always filled when free.
  • Optional slots are used as a fallback, lowest rank first.

What happens when a primary slot is blocked is up to you:

  • A: each blocked primary slot is replaced by the next free optional slot, so the lamp count stays the same.
  • B: optional slots are only used when no primary slot is free at all.

Each pole type has its own layout. Settings are stored per player.

Notes

  • Uses the vanilla small lamp.
  • Debug output (two levels) can be enabled in the settings window if something doesn't place as expected.
  • Feedback and bug reports are welcome in the discussion tab.
