The factory must grow, but only if you have the proper permits. Replace biters with complainers and weapons with bureaucracy.

a Factory Bulletin - Going beta and Space Age

Hello engineers, administrators, and people who definitely read the ratios before building anyway !

I wanted to ask for your honest feedback on the mod.

I’m having an absurd amount of fun crafting this thing, and I really hope you’re enjoying playing it too. It’s gotten to the point where I’m starting to think it might be time to move from alpha to beta... but before I stamp that paperwork, I’d love to hear what you think.

Does the mod feel beta-ready to you, or does it still belong in the lands of alpha?

I also wanted to give a quick update on Space Age compatibility: I’m actively working on it, I have a ton of ideas, and the first Space Age alpha is getting close, which brings me to another question:

Should the mod stay in alpha/beta until Space Age compatibility is there too?

Or should we move forward with the main mod now, and treat Space Age as a separate parallel adventure into the unknown, aka a separate mod?

Also, full honesty: I am not a designer. Some very kind people have offered to help with assets for some buildings, which is amazing, but I still don’t have great visibility on what a fully polished version looks like on that front. And of course, Space Age would add even more work there, because apparently the solution to “more work” is “space.”

So tell me:

Does the current version feel like alpha or beta?
Should Space Age compatibility affect that label?
Should we move ahead now and keep SA cooking separately?
Honest feedback is very welcome. Balance complaints, design thoughts, pacing issues, things you love, things you hate...

Also I need to create title screens, so if you want your spaghetti paperwork featured feel free to post links to your bases ! :)

The factory must grow, the bureaucracy must expand.

I really enjoyed this MOD, but I couldn't launch rockets because the balance was lost due to excessive construction lol.
However, I am eagerly awaiting the release of the beta version and am also looking forward to compatibility with Space Age :)
I cannot answer your question, but I am rooting for you.
The bureaucracy must expand!!

I'm super happy you enjoyed it ! What do you mean "the balance was lost due to excessive construction" ? I did not test it to a super late game stage, let me know if there are unbalances in the late game that I can fix.

No. It's just my factory over-construction syndrome lol.
I built too many factories in the later stages, so the basic resources couldn't handle it.
I tried to use the copier, but there was no space left in my factory.

This is a view of my factory. :)
I ultimately failed to resolve the loitering complaint.

I would suggest omitting space and keeping it core on Nauvis. I think it is well too early to bloat out and think about what to add with the expansion when there's still a great gameplay loop to be enhanced as it is. The number of people who will reach space in this added workload mod will in all eventuality be higher if the road there can be crafted to feel wonderful. So I would put that space stuff aside for now. I think the Nauvis workflow still needs a bunch of work on its own, we're only mere days past from ink being handcraft only after all.

Keep it up on securing foundation, the stars aren't going anywhere.
You still have to fill out the required forms, anyways.

This sounds like a whole lot of fun - I JUST found this, so I haven't played it yet, but I am going to give it a try. I agree with not making it rely on space age - there are mods out there that don't use space age, and I would hate to lose out on one or the other due to dependencies. If you do get it to work with space age, I hope it's optional.

Amazing concept, great work, keep it up! :)

Just to clarify Space Age compatibility would not get rid of the vanilla mod, it would just be an extension of the mod, but optional of course.
