Maybe I didn't pay attention to such things before, but after I started focusing on quality, I developed the habit of paying closer attention to quality.
Simply, when the duplication script is triggered and a message is displayed in the chat stating that it is not possible to have two identical items in the equipment grid, the script drops the item into the inventory, and there is no issue with that. However, it drops the item with zero quality, regardless of its original quality.
This is very easy to reproduce.
