It's a problem with "vanilla loaders"
Like you, I was using vanilla loaders. I saw it as an alternative to loader redux because, after loader redux's recent update, it was causing problems with x100. And after installing vanilla loaders it would just HARD stop at 4% while loading. After deleting vanilla loaders out of my mods folder the game loaded up as normal.

Personally I use Loader Redux. While the newest version (1.8.1) doesn't work with this mod, the last version (1.8.0) does still. So I'd go with that one. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/LoaderRedux/downloads
