Upon detonating a 15kt core in a test facility 1.2km N of my base, scattered light pollution was created about 300m W to S to E of my base. Not only having any scattered pollution N (where I fired) including around the upper half of my factory confuses me. I was able to fully tell the pollution generation due to my "green" factory (Better Air Filtering mod).
Oh, so perhaps due to the sheer density of 3600% biters and the map generation, there were not as many trees in the north (I didn't see any when I scouted that area). Here's a save after the detonation if you wish to take a look: https://ufile.io/vuzle22g

Just to be clear, the thing you were unsure about was where the extra pollution was coming from, right?
Because if so, it is just little spots of trees in between the biters, which catch fire and burn.
