Since a few days, the unit count when you have a group in selection don't appear anymore.

Also, would it be possible to have the unit icon be the icon of the unit selected and not always the player icon?

This was a base game issue, and its fixed for the next factorio release

The unit icon will be the icon of the entity:

So it is a problem of the mod which added the units you are controlling
