Let the trees on your map spread over time similar to real vegetation

I have already explored/"activated" a very large area of my map. Most of it very far from my base so I will likely not be interacting with or polluting much of it. Will this mod cause every area that I leave "ungardened" to become insanely overgrown with trees spread everywhere and packed in tight like the mod picture suggests? I love the idea of trees spreading, but I don't want my entire world to become a rainforest. I use Alien Biomes and I want the areas to retain their unique feel. But I also would like for forests to have the capacity to regenerate naturally. Is this mod for me?

Hi qwert7661,

in general the more map is explored, the better. Our general guideline is to set the spawn rate high, about 1000 or more if the area is small. The code spawns one single tree per surface per run, so increasing the delay between runs with the spawn rate will reduce the progression accordingly. However there is no generic recommendation as this highly depends on the specific map and environment.

In theory I would like to use the mod, but I fear it will do an exponential growth of trees, where in the end everything will be covered by huge forests.

Also seeing trees popping up 5 tiles from outposts where I cleared all trees for better firing solution ... Is there something preventing trees from regrowing near structures?

You could use concrete (trees won't grow on it) or kill all nearby trees.
