Note: This mod is completely functional as of now, but please do report any bugs you might encounter, as this is fresh outta the oven!
This mod completely disables atomic explosions from ever changing the terrain tiles by disabling the vanilla permanent scorchmark that is created when a nuke explosion goes off, keeping the terrain exactly the same as before the explosion occurred.
Spawns a custom scorchmark that completely disappears over time.
The crater glows at night.
Video is sped up. The scrochmark lasts for 30 minutes.
It is my intention to make this work with any other mods so their nuclear explosions don't create a permanent scorchmark either.
I tested with the following mods and the atomic explosions from the artillery are properly patched by my mod:
-Atomic Artillery Reborn
-Plutonium Energy
If for some reason the mod you are using either creates any of these two, please report which mod it is so I can fix them, they should not appear at all:
Left- Permanent scorchmark (this one is the changed terrain tiles);
Right- Permanent patches (these decoratives do not change the terrain but they seem permanent);
This does not remove scorches on the map prior to the installation of this mod, for that use the following mod by Sil3ntSt0rm:
Notes:
A) I do not have Space Age DLC, so this was only tested on Nauvis without the DLC.
B) Now you might ask, aren't there mods already that do something "similar"?
Yes there are mods out there that try to achieve something similar, just not exactly how I want it.
1- They either are not for 2.0 or are not fully working;
2- Some do not prevent atomic explosions from creating the permanent scrochmark in the first place, thus original terrain is not 100% maintained;
3- Some run on a xTicks per chunks method;
4- They don't create some sort of scorchmark to make the atomic explosion feel "complete" and visually pleasing;
This mod basically acts no differently than you killing a biter and its corpse laying dead on the ground and then disappearing. Should not impact performance at all.
Known issues:
As you walk away from the scorch, you might see it pop in and out at the very edge of your monitor, this is something i failed to fix so far as this is a "corpse" entity and the game only seems to take into consideration the very center of the scrochmark.
I have successfully tried to split the image into various smaller images but the game still renders them all at the same time.
